Bio

9:18 is a collective of well-experienced, well versed musicians with a raw edge and wide array of influences. Started in early 2004 by guitarist Mike Vidal, drummer Matt Timko, and bassist Kieran Tintle, 9:18 itself percolated through years of lineup changes, sound modifications, and general growth by the duo as musicians and songwriters.

Timko's departure from the band in early 2006 marked the beginning of the current manifestation of 9:18, and the start of its march towards the bigger and better. The band added Nick Fanelli as the new drummer, brining experience from many local bands past (Nappi!, Hostage For Hire, the Unsung Heroes, etc.), as well as a wide knowledge of instrumentation and managerial and organization skills for the band. Fanelli, who now majors in Music Industry at Drexel University in Philadelphia provided 9:18 the shot in the arm it needed to get out there and get serious,.

As the sound and songwriting of 9:18 matured early in the Fanelli era, the need for a second guitar became apparent, as the band was now writing more intricate, difficult music. The obvious addition of their drummer's brother, Ryan Fanelli, added a great deal of diversity and musical knowledge to the band. Ryan, who had spent time playing both saxophone (Unununium) and guitar/vocals (Nappi!) in local bands had a far different taste in music than the band, and his interest in folk singers like Bob Dylan and Neil Young, as well as funk and classic rock still shine bright through 9:18's songwriting to this day.

In about a year and a half as a band together, 9:18 has released an EP and a full-length album to very strong local praise. Recording the albums in a bedroom with the Lab Teknicians, producers from Union, NJ, and releasing the album themselves, 9:18 has been able to have the highest level of quality and creativity in every single song, results that clearly place their recordings above most other recordings by local unsigned bands.

Since its inception, 9:18 has shared the stage with national acts the likes of the Slackers, the Unseen, Socratic, the Scene Aesthetic, The Arsons, the Flaming Tsunamis, Mischief Brew, the Fad, Public Access, and Static Radio. 9:18 has played such renowned venues as the Trocadero in Philadelphia, and the School of Rock and Starland Ballroom in New Jersey, accumulating 40+ performances since its rebirth.

9:18 is looking to tour the East Coast this July to build a fanbase outside of their state of New Jersey.
