Ninja

London born Ninja, vocalist of Nigerian-Egyptian descent leaves the helms of cult UK indie-rock band The Go! Team to work on her solo album. As frontwoman headlining stages and performing at the biggest festivals in the world including Glastonbury, Coachella and Fuji Rock, 3 albums and 8 years later, the band's eclectic signature sound is left behind for a new direction. Ninjas travel solo.

A proud London accent defined in her tracks, a music career was unwittingly rebellion against her strict african upbringing. Dad died before hearing a single note and mum still not sure what rap actually is, Ninja followed every potential lead on her road to success.

Filling homework diaries with rap songs and teaching them to classmates first exercised her penchant for cheeky lyricism and a playful nature in music. She joined The Go! Team by accident after a string of successful shows due to answering an ad for a female rapper. The pocket rocket with a big personality had promoter and labels inundating the band with offers.

Pulled between science and the arts, she transitioned into music whilst working 2 jobs, studying for a degree and touring with The Go! Team. Ninja's final dissertation written on a Joss Stone quote, was finished on the tour-bus and she missed her graduation ceremony for performing at the 3 week Big Day Out Australian Festival.

Eager to finally write without constraint, Ninja recorded wrote several tracks and met with major labels and producers alongside providing vocals for Simian Mobile Disco and others, but the touring was constant.

After a break to "sit on a sofa, watch TV and find out the price of milk" Ninja recorded 'Ninjas Travel Solo' much to the dismay of her band members. She has kept been busy with her project, which is influenced by among others Neneh Cherry, Missy, House Party and the streets of London. Real surrealism, lyrically honest, raw beats crossing genres with an electro hip-hop skip, a dark pop, and a super infectious vibe. Why? "I just wanna dance".
