NEW YORK, NY – Eclectic punk and electro influenced hip-hop duo Ninjasonik will release their mixtape No Swords or Masks on July 27, 2011. Their upcoming mixtape is comprised of over thirteen original tracks and features contributions from Theophilous London, Cobra Starship, Plain Pat and Mr. Star City. Primarily produced by Sisko and Discopusher and recorded at Min Max Studios in New York City, Ninjasonik also worked with Soundwavve and So Japan to achieve the perfect balance of the classic hip hop, punk and electronica that has long influenced Ninjasonik’s sound.
Ninjasonik will release No Swords or Masks while continuing to ready their forthcoming sophomore full length album Peter Pan Syndrome, due out in early 2012. Peter Pan Sydrome is the anticipated follow up to their debut full-length debut album Art School Girls, which Ninjasonik released via Green Owl in April 2010.
“No Swords of Masks is our strongest body of work, consisting of original songs that express every aspect of what Ninjasonik represents. We tapped into so many genres of music, really giving a fresh perspective on hip-hop,” says frontman Telli Federline. “We represent a culture, a New York State of mind and we are not holding back with this work!” adds vocalist Jah-Jah.
The lead track from No Swords or Masks, “Mosh Pit”, a bombastic hip hop party anthem anchored in an electro-pop beat, was premiered on the homepage of Idolator in May to a warm reception. “Mosh Pit” was produced by Dutch DJ team The Partysquad, consisting of DJ Jerry (Jerry Clay Bridges) and MC Ruben (Ruben Fernhout). Ninjasonik and The Party Squad first met while working with Roxy Cottontail; sensing a kindred spirit, they quickly set about working together at The Party Squad’s Amsterdam studio during Ninjasonik’s European tour.
Long passionate about design and film, Ninjasonik’s music video for “Mosh Pit” is their most ambitious and creative to date. Set for an August release, the “Mosh Pit” video is a remake of cult classic The Warriors and stars television personality Sway Calloway in the role of Sirus. Ninjasonik partnered with Rocawear owned clothing brand Artful Dodger to design and create original denim vests for the video. “Mosh Pit” was filmed guerrilla style in New York City and features Ninjasonik’s fans and fellow Brooklyn musicians as the supporting cast.
Fresh off a performance at Bamboozle East Rutherford and recent performances with Theophilus London, Ninjasonik will perform at the 7th annual Afro-punk Festival, held at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, NY on August 27th and 28th. Marking their second year in a row as performers, Ninjasonik joins a ferocious line up that includes Cee Lo, TV On the Radio, Fishbone, Santigold, Janelle Monae and Reggie Watts.

Brooklyn-based duo Ninjasonik, comprised of Reverend McFly and DJ Teenwolf, established itself in fall 2007 with "Tight Pants," a song that generated an impressive amount of blogosphere buzz as an MP3 and YouTube video. Remixes of the song, along with other similarly styled songs such as "Internet Bitch," followed, as did a series of downloadable DJ mixes. In terms of style, Ninjasonik falls somewhere between indie dance and irreverent rap, comparable to other fashionable indie electronic/rap acts like Spank Rock, Uffie, and the KnuX. duo also established itself as a performance act, hosting dance parties at the Knitting Factory and South by Southwest, among other venues.
