NIO Tha Gift’s music career began at the tenure age of 14 years old. Rising to the forefront of the Bay Area music scene by 2006 when he dropped the smash hit single, “Superstar” from his debut album, Blood, Sweat and Triumph; followed by the hit video directed by Taj Stansberry. This rap sensation has been in high demand every since.
NIO Tha Gift is now one of the most notable emerging artists from the Northern California region. NIO has worked with a plethora of well known talents such as, Jim Jones, The Freshmen and Mistah FAB (to name a few). He was featured in the hit single and video, “Ballin/Im back” by Big Rich, another prominent artist from the Bay Area, which received heavy rotation on MTV Jams and on local FM stations. He was ¼ member of the rap super group, The FNM (Fly New Movement) a collective consisting of three dope emcees -Erk Tha Jerk, Willie Joe, NIO Tha Gift, and super producer Traxamillion.
The EP, titled H.I.P. H.O.P. (Here I Present a Hero of Poverty) was released in August 2009. The first single, “Grateful” became an instant hit with fans. H.I.P. H.O.P., is still NIO Tha Gift’s most personal album to date. From concept, to development to delivery H.I.P. H.O.P., is still a classic!
In his follow up mixtape HERO hosted by DJ Franzen, and his album Super HERO (both released in 2010), NIO raise the bar again. By taking you on another fantastic voyage through his life, new struggles & success. Both projects were well received with fans both locally and abroad.
After taking a short hiatus in December, to celebrate the birth of his first born son. NIO returned to the studio early 2011, to begin recording his new mixtape, Rebel with a Cause. He recorded and released the title song "Rebel with a Cause". The buzz over the new song and mixtape has been phenominal, as fans are anxious for some new NIO Tha Gift music!
Rebel with a Cause, was released, on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. The new mixtape is available for free download, via www.NIOthagift.com . Rebel with a Cause contains features by artist, Mistah FAB, and super producers Aristotle, Dex Beats and many more.
