Nitzam EP (31/01/2012)
Available at

Nitzam started life as a lo-fi bedroom demo recorded by Jack Bartrop (vocals) and Jake Stow (guitar) on an indulgent night within the confines of the walls that gave the original name to the band the 'Safe House'.

Sober and with the encouragement of friends, additional members were sought after, namely a drummer... Jack's brother Sam was an obvious choice, as his bedroom was their rehearsal space, and they were playing his drum kit while he was away...

After moving to Brighton a stroke of fate bestowed itself upon them, their old school friend and guitarist Ashley Guest dropped out of Nottingham uni on a quest to play an easier instrument and maybe study some maths, Brighton held good prospects.

The cherry on the cake was to be Max Holmes, a loud Frenchman who plays ripping blues guitar and claims to be English, found in... a maths seminar. Sometimes good things come from unlikely places. So the line up was complete.

After playing their debut at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen in 2010 Nitzam have garnered a strong, loyal following, playing packed out shows around Brighton in a style described by Transparent blog as "sprawling dystopian beats, calling vocals and murky, troubled melodies." But some might say its a psychedelic take on blues inspired rock from the last eighty years...
