Niv Toar is originally from Kiriat Ono, Israel. He is 22 years old and just graduated from Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. He started playing the trumpet at the age of 8 at the Kiriat Ono conservatory. At the age of 11 he was playing in the youth and elder classical orchestras and toured to Europe several times, performing solos with the orchestras. He graduated the Thelma Yellin High School for the Arts, where he started his Jazz education. There he got experienced in the Big Band, Salsa Band and other jazz bands. At Berklee he studied with amazing teachers such as Tiger Okoshi, Oscar Stagnaro, Joe Lovano, Hal Crook, Greg Hopkins and Phil Wilson. He was a member of the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra, Rainbow Big Band, Rainbow All Stars, Tower of Power Ensemble and more. He has performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival in California, Duke Ellington Jazz Fest in Washington D.C., Tel Aviv Jazz Festival twice, at the International Association for Jazz Education (I.A.J.E) for the past 6 years, Coca Cola music festival 2004 in Nitsanim (w/Tipeks, Hadorbanim and Maya Buskila) and in 2007 w/ Shai Gabso, Jerusalem Jazz Festival, Red Sea Jazz Festival, Cesaria Auditorium (w/Pavlo Rosenberg & Shlomi Shabat) and more.

His current/past Projects include: Tour with Oscar Stagnaro's "Peru Mestizo" latin Jazz, Recording with Israeli artists Keren Peles, Pavlo Rosenberg, Shlomi Shabat, Dani Robas and the Avi Lebovitch Orchestra. Performing with the Idan Raichel Project, Matisyahu, Rosa Pasos, Maria Schneider, Israel "Cachao" Lopez, Tony Perez, Jimmy Heath, Juan Luis Guerra, Pavlo Rosenberg, Shlomi Shabat, David Broza and Tiger Okoshi. In March '07, he attended a 4 day workshop with Paquito D'rivera which ended with a concert at Carnegie Hall. He received the "Berklee College of Music Art Farmer Award". In August he played at the Red Sea Jazz Festival and is currently recording his first album. He is also in a latin jazz group - "La Timbistica", which won the 2008 Down Beat student music award for best Jazz band and performed at the Monterey Jazz festival and the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival '08.
