Bio
Nneka (Nuh-Nay-kah) Best is an international recording artist with New Spirit, (known in the States as Agape). In November 2005, Nneka debuted her first solo CD: Higher Than I. She has recorded with Alicia Robey (Alicia Robey and Friends: The Overcomer Project), David P. Stevens (David P. Stevens and Friends: From Thoughts to Action), and AGAPE (New Spirit internationally- New Spirit: Spirituals). Nneka toured South Korea in a Praise & Worship Ensemble and did three international tours with AGAPE (New Spirit), performing gospel concerts in France, Germany, Italy, Monaco, Spain and Switzerland. Nneka participated in the ‘Summer in Love 2006’ lunchtime entertainment series in Love Park in Center City Philadelphia. She appeared on WHFL-TV, The Truth and The Life with Rev. Sherman Best, singing from her debut CD, Higher Than I, and was the featured artist at the Labor Day Community Outreach Picnic in San Angelo, Texas. You can hear Nneka’s music on Philadelphia radio stations WRTI 90.1FM on Sunday mornings 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, WDAS 1480AM on Saturday evenings 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM and on the worldwide web www.ensoundradio.net. She presently serves as a worship leader for the New Covenant Church of Philadelphia, and sings on several ensembles. Nneka is in her last year as an undergraduate at Eastern University majoring in Music.
Nneka was born and raised in the Strawberry Mansion section of North Philadelphia. She is the eldest of four children born to Brenda (Davis) Butler and William Davis Jr. Nneka was ‘born and raised’ in church. She first attended Sunday school at 3 years old at the Prince of Peace Baptist Church under the late Reverend Leo C. Wright, founder and pastor. At 4 years old, Nneka asked Jesus to come into her heart.
Nneka began performing at a very young age. She started singing with the Wright Choral Ensemble gospel choir and in school pageants at age 5. By 8 years old, she was on programs doing solo performances.
Nneka is happily married to Robert L. Best, II and has a host of family and friends who love and support her. She is dedicated to using her gifts and talents to glorify God and uplift and encourage her listeners.
