"27 single review"

No1soN 27 (5 stars)
A blinding debut single from Scots band No1soN who open with the line "27 reasons why you fell down the stairs". They've formed out of the ashes of Gourock's Sneak Attack Tigers - which could explain why this sounds like a band who have been packing out venues for years. With Neil Young, Flaming Lips and Grandaddy as influences, this band will be on everyone's radar very soon.
(Single beat Mylo - Muscle Car, Queens of the Stone Age - Burn the witch, The Kooks - You Don;t Love Me, Will Young - All Time Love and Texas) - Daily Record

Bio

no1son was born in a tiny studio at the back of a joiners workshop in Gourock, Scotland, nearly two years ago with a feeling it was time for a change, to shuffle the deck, to do something different, something that was purely about songs. With this firmly in mind over the space of two lost weekends Paul Mclaughlin, with his friend and engineer Jim Lang, recorded 10 demo tracks and no1son haven't looked back since. If you imagine that Grandaddy, Sparklehorse or Mercury Rev have picked up the torch once carried by the likes of The Band and Neil Young etc 30 years earlier, no1son are picking it up on the west coast of Scotland, bringing their own unique ideas and influences to the mix. A matter of months later the no1son band was brought to life in bedrooms across the west end of Glasgow. It was time to take the songs to a live audience. Now with a years worth of succesful gigs all over Glasgow (King Tut's, Nice'N'Sleazy, ABC, The Arches) and up and down the country (Go North, In the City), a limited edition 7inch single of "27", AND a hugely anticipated debut album in the can (release date tbc) things are moving quickly from those cold nights in the joiners workshop. So sit back, enjoy the songs, and the video and watch this space.
