"GREGG WAGER"

Demonstrating the best of balancing acts, composer Noah Agruss consistently applies the right amount of musical
perfection and polish without losing spontaneity or fluidity. His tuneful, modal music avoids clichés, generously
building upon ostinatos, while flowing in a stylistically consistent way with sweeping, harmonically sophisticated
passages and subtle traces of inventive jazz. He has found a voice that is timely and lucid, as well as compelling
and convincing. - noted music critic

"BRADLEY BAMBARGER"

When the source material's sophistication is deep enough and the arranger has the talent to triumph over literalism,
Vitamin's string-quartet sets can be marvels of re-imagination. Arranger Noah Agruss managed such a trick with a
head-spinning disc devoted to the songs of art-metal band the Deftones. - New Jersey Star-Ledger

"FRANKY MICKLESTONE"

Agruss finds satisfaction by manipulating the strings to fit the energy and vibe of the initial material. For the Deftones
tribute he concentrated on the low-end rhythms that drive the music and the floating melodies that complement the
base. Short bow strokes from the cello in songs such as “Engine No. 9 and the eerie fiddle-esque, scratchy tone
from the higher strings in “7 Words capture the urgency and menace of the model. - Stylus Magazine

Bio

Independent feature films and animations are among Noah's scoring credits along with commercials spots,
including Pearle Vision (Addy Award nominated), Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Busch Beer and Sonic Drive-ins,
and numerous documentaries aired on PBS and The History Channel. Noah's edgy arrangements for Vitamin
Records pay homage to pop artists as varied as Radiohead, Slipknot, Michael Bublé, Red Hot Chili Peppers,
The Killers, Celtic Woman, Peter Gabriel, Jet, Van Morrison and Deftones. His string quartet tribute to Paramore's
"Hallelujah" was recently featured on Fox network's So You Think You Can Dance.

Agruss also pens music and songs for original productions by B Street Theatre in Sacramento, co-founded by
writer/director Buck Busfield and his brother, actor/producer Tim Busfield (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,
Without a Trace, The West Wing, etc.). There, the premiere of Lune - Pronounced Loony by playwright Kira
Obolensky featured Noah's cartoon music influenced score. His work on original children's musicals at
B Street has included The Golden Harp by Greg Alexander and Jackie Robinson: Safe at Home by Tony D'Juan.

Noah began piano lessons early in Sacramento and studied guitar for seven years with local guitar hero Tom
Phillips of Redwing. Agruss performed in jazz, rock and pop bands through High School then landed a spot at
Berklee College of Music, in Boston, where he studied guitar and music theory. Fueled by a move to Hollywood
to play in bands and work as a studio musician and engineer Noah's interest in composing grew, and he returned
to in-depth study at San Francisco State University. He found a mentor there in Pulitzer Prize winning composer
Wayne Peterson plus, encouragement from concert band legend Roger Nixon, composer Herb Bielawa and
multimedia artist and filmmaker Lynn Hershman-Leeson (Strange Culture and Teknolust starring Tilda Swinton).
In San Francisco Agruss co-founded New Release Alliance (a group of composers staging new chamber works),
studied piano with Tom Constanten (The Grateful Dead), learned scoring technique from film composer
Dan Wyman (The Lawnmower Man) and mastered orchestration and sampling technologies.

Noah Agruss has returned to Los Angeles to create music for Film and Television. Today, Noah works from his
studio in Culver City and welcomes all inquiries from film makers, clients and agents alike.
