Bio

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and primarily raised in central New Jersey, he took a liking to music early on as a child, but didn't begin writing music until his late teens. It didn't take long for him to go from experimenting with music as a hobby, to seriously considering it as a profession. In the early years, he joined his cousin, Royal Priest, to form the hip-hop duo,  E.L.P.T. Within a year, they met with hip-hop artist B.B. Jay, who at the time was signed to Jive records and had just released his first major album, “Universal Concussion”. B.B. Jay took the group under his wing and brought them on tour with him. He allowed E.L.P.T. to serve as his hype-men, plus gave them time within his set to perform their own music. E.L.P.T. released their first and only full-length album in 2005, "The Foundation". Subsequently, they had the opportunity to be featured on “The Mixx Masters Lounge”, which aired on the INSP network, and shared the stage with many other major label artists. These opportunities allowed Nob'l to grow and mature quickly in his understanding of music creation, performance, and production.

In 2007, Nob'l ventured out to release music as a solo artist. He released a mixtape titled, "The Unmixed Mixtape". This project showcased Nob'l as a lyricist. The mixtape featured Nob'l delivering his own lyrical renditions over some of the popular hip-hop instrumentals of the time. Although there was no original musical production on the project, it proved that he was adept at putting together a complete project. From the stand out song, "This Is Jersey", which gave people a glimpse of life in New Jersey, to the socially conscious "Revolution", that spoke of social injustices, to the song "Kingdom Come", which displayed Nob'l delivering a five minute long verse full of punch lines and metaphors, he proved that he was not your average, one dimensional artist. In 2010, he proved that even more by releasing the song and music video for "The Unreasonable". This song was a departure from anything he had done in the past, expressing a dark take on life and death. Throughout the song, Nob'l spoke about and reflected on those close to him that had passed away, displaying obituaries through parts of the video, reasoning about what happens in the "life after".

Not only is Nob'l a hip-hop artist, he is also a producer, engineer, and musician. He feels that his vast repertoire helps to contribute to the way he approaches music. He's not a hardcore artist, an obscure artist, or a commercial one. He feels that he sits somewhere in the middle of all of these because of his constantly expanding tastes in different styles of music. He opines, "Music is powerful. It brings people up, brings them down, makes them think. It sets a mood. There are so many ways that music can affect a person, and I want to be free to express it all. When you hear my music, you're not just hearing a song, but you're tapping into an emotion and a personal thought I was experiencing and decided to share with the world."

Nob’l has performed nationally and internationally. He recently released the lead single "Peculiar" from his upcoming debut solo album. When speaking about the song he says, "People weren't meant to be carbon copies of each other, but to celebrate their differences and inspire each other. Unfortunately, the former is what we most often see. I want to inspire people to take pride in not being what the world’s system says they should be, but in what God says they should be. We shouldn't be ashamed of that, and I want us to be proud of being 'Peculiar'!"
