"Billboard Magazine"

- 1999 Best Unsigned Artist of North America Finalist

"The Renegade"

Raucous, nineties college rock with an aggressive edge. Catchy and fun - a big future (and a big present).

- Geoff Wilbur, November 2001

"Mixx Magazine, July 2002"

I was truly impressed with JoyPopper. And I have seen MANY bands as you can probably guess. I think they have that magical combination of elements that will create the opportunity for great success in this wacky business. Noel Christopher fronts this band with huge potential. A surprise hit! I look forward to seeing them again!

"The Noise, November 1998"

JoyPopper churns out loud, boisterous, punky pop that's tight and tuneful with some good catchy grooves and solid drumming.

- The Noise

"The Northeast Performer, August 18, 1999"

I was fortunate enough to receive a pre-press copy of the CD and gave a good listen. Noel Christopher's vocals, seductively rich and sensitive, more than drew me in, while the steady passionate pulse of drummer Alex Miranda dances lightly under each tune. Cuts that really shine are "Life" and "Silver Son."

"The Noise, December 2002"

Formerly known as JoyPopper: CD Release, "PLasticHorse"

With a name like JoyPopper, you might reason that this band plays the kind of light, airy pop that makes you think you're in a dentist's chair with the nitrous mask on. Thankfully, this surprisingly strong first effort from JoyPopper is more power pop than gaseous escape.

From the strong backbeat on the opening song "Change Wraps" to the up-tempo rocker "Last Words", this is a promising disc that deserves a listen. Unlike a lot of indie pop, the songs on PLasticHorse have some meat on their bones. Singer/guitar player Noel Christopher's darkly toned lyrics filter through a top notch rhythm section and guitar foundation that begs comparisons to Sponge and Alice in Chains.

The band keeps it interesting by mixing it up a little as well. There's some cool wah-wah and fuzzy guitar work on a couple songs and heavier, driving rock with wailing guitars on others. The acoustic opening to the new-wave-ish "Never Quite Been There" is different and a dead ringer for The Cure in their heyday, but it's a nice addition to the band's sonic landscape.

JoyPopper is one of those bands that has the musical chops, the potential and the punch to make something of themselves. It will be interesting to see what they do on their second CD, but you can certainly enjoy PLasticHorse in the meantime.
