"Everyone"

“Noel Johnson’s smooth vocals are reminiscent of such artists as Damien Rice, Ray Lamontagne and Jack Johnson, and the rootsy melodicism of songs such as Where Would I Go come across as passionate and optimistic, but never naïve”

- Lisa Wilton (The Calgary Sun)

“Fantastic songwriter, Noel is the type of artist that grabs your attention right away”

- Malissa Dunphy ( X92.9 fm, Host of Xposure, Calgary )

Bio

Maybe it was destiny, maybe it was coincidence, but when Noel Johnson came across an old Fender acoustic in a back alley in his hometown of Calgary at the age of sixteen, his fate was sealed. Years later, Johnson has honed his playing and songwriting chops without completely smoothing over the rough edges. The singer-songwriter’s folk rock is loose, rhythmic, rustic and catchy as hell.

After Noel released his first EP “A Familiar Change” in February 2009 he quickly recorded his first full length album “Spirit of the Day” in Nashville with the winnings he recieved from two radio contests. Noel teamed up with fellow Calgary musician Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and producer Josh Gwillam on this project. “Spirit of the Day” was released in late 2009.

Recently Noel released his first single "Wild Electric" which will be on his new record due to be released April 2013

Since then he has performed at the Epcor Centre of the Performing Art’s three times, was included on a compilation disc that sold forty thousand copies nationwide, performed at numerous festivals including Canadian Music Week in Toronto and opened for 2011 Juno nominee Hannah Georgas. Not only has Noel been getting a lot of buzz, he has also grown as a musician. Each song he writes has to be better than the last otherwise it gets tossed. This has lead him to create haunting melodies, beautiful lyrics and a song writing quality that has made him a force to be reckoned with.

His love of song writing is also complimented by his passion for performing. With his high energy and engaging live show, he will surely leave everyone with a tune in their head, a smile on their face, and just glad that he found that old Fender.
