Bio

In 2004, brothers Nick and Chris Torr formed the band No-Hype, in South Canterbury, New Zealand. The brothers crossed the ditch to Hervey Bay, Australia, in August 2008. No-Hype crafted their music skills in an insulated tin shed, which was later transformed into a music room, in a small village called Cave.

The situation was idyllic, for the family property had no immediate neighbours. No-Hype made their debut performing at their High School Social, which led to them being asked to perform at Birthday parties, and other social gatherings.

After moving to Hervey Bay, it didn’t take Nick and Chris long to get involved with the local music scene. The boys entered a Battle of the Bands competition for the Wide Bay region, which included acts from as far as the Sunshine Coast. The boys won the competition, and this became the catalyst for their music as a career, and months later took on Wez Pitt as bassist. Chris being 16 years old is the youngest as drummer and backing vocalist, Wez being 19 and bass guitarist and Nick, 19, being the front man as guitarist and lead vocalist.

No-Hype have moulded themselves as an original Band, performing unique Indie Rock/pop songs, with their main influences being Blink 182, Green day, and The Stiff Little Fingers. They have struck the perfect balance with guitar riffs, melodic harmonies and precision drumming, to create a sound that snakes its way around the edges, and sometimes straight through the middle!

With a pure no nonsense approach to their career, No-Hypes music will tap into your senses and emotions, in a way that all good music should. Whether it be push starting the tired old Falcon, or playing till the fingers bleed, No-Hypes path and destiny is tattooed on their foreheads. Teaming up with internationally acclaimed Producer Wernher Pramschufer of Great Music, and Aria Award winning Sound Engineer, Anthony Lycenko, No-Hype recently recorded a 5 track EP at great music as well as Studio 301, Byron Bay, a week prior to Powder Finger.
