Bio
Formed in January 2003, No Joy In Muddville has been dazzling audiences for the past 2 years headlining various venues throughout south jersey and philadelphia, such as the The Five Spot and Rowan Universtiy. All four members of the band come from various degrees of musical influences that blend together into the sweet goulash that is No Joy In Muddville. Known for catchy tunes, pure harmonies, and witty mid set banter this band is guaranteed to be a goodtime for all.
Guitarist Kevin Rigby and Percussionist Josh Totora have been writing, playing, and singing together in various successful local projects since 1998. Then in 2002 these two met fellow members, pianist John Perovich and bassist Marko, leading to the creation of the exciting, innovative melodies that No Joy In Muddville produces today.
Perovich's smooth piano lines influenced by Ben Folds and the Beatles, blends in unique imaginative ways with Totora's use of drumset and world percussion influenced by groups such as Guster and Moxy Fruvous. This allows for an intense base to which Rigby can lay down his soulful guitar riffs influenced by Jeff Buckley and Radiohead. Marko has really been able to establish himself as a significant voice in No joy without actually opening his mouth. His influences include Ani Difranco and Wilco. Top all of this off with the fact that NJIM has no obvious front man due to three members entertaining with their vocal abilities, in harmonic bliss, and No Joy In Muddville will take you on a thrill ride of musical proportions.
