New Orleans-based southern Hip Hop, Trap, Trill

Nola Fam is a New Orleans-based hip hop trio consisting of members: Q a.k.a. Que Hefner (DJQ), Mani (900), and J-$moke (Doc. Smoke). Born and raised in the inner city of New Orleans, 7th Ward and 8th Ward neighborhoods, they grew up together and experienced Katrina without evacuating. They later formed the group at Frederick Douglass High School, responding to a changing local culture and citywide gentrification.

Nola Fam has worked and performed with Mannie Fresh, Juvenile, Mystikal, Snoop Dogg, Dee-1, Zebra Katz, and Nicky Da B. DJQ and Nola Fam gained notoriety while performing a popular weekly Saturday bounce night at Saint Roch Tavern in the 8th Ward neighborhood. They performed at SXSW in 2012, where they met ASAP Mob, Big Krit, Juicy J, Curren$y, Chevy Woods, Kurupt and Trae da Truth. In 2014, they began an ongoing residency at the New Orleans House of Blues, and throwout New Orleans .

Nola Fam's sound is a classic golden era approach to hip hop, with a trill, southern, New Orleans style facilitated by the production of in-house producers, Mani (prod. by 900) of New Orleans and $titcHeN from the Bay Area. The result is a diverse sound, mixing southern, western, and eastern hip hop influences. The group added two new members in 2012, R&B singer, Mario Hart (Mani's younger brother); and hip hop artist, King Princeton, changing the name of the larger collective of artists to Nola Familia.

NOLA FAM is one of the hottest up and coming hip hop groups coming out of New Orleans. They are bringing back a raw, original, native hip hop sound to New Orleans, inspired by growing up in the local hip hop scene and being exposed to Cash Money Records and Mannie Fresh.
