bohola has developed a smooth, cohesive sound that emphasizes tasteful ensemble playing at the expense of blazing solos. bohola displayed precision and intricacy... navigated the labyrinthine melody in perfect unison. ...long, flowing lines that sounded closer to chamber music. bohola brought a bit of Ireland's Christmas to Chicago, offering just the right blend of flashy musicianship and warm singing to take the chill off a brisk December evening."

Bio
bohola proudly present Nollaig (pronounced Null-ig), their annual concert celebrating the winter Holiday season. The show Nollaig explores both the Christian and Pagan traditions surrounding the Winter Solstice in a mixture of song, spoken word, and instrumental pieces from Ireland, America, Scotland, Wales, England, Brittany and the other Celtic nations. The songs extend from the ancient Kilmore carols of Ireland to the humorous songs of the Irish-American vaudeville stage. The joyous words of poets and writers such as Patrick Kavanagh, Dylan Thomas, and John B. Keane whisk the audience back to a childhood Christmas while the cheerful holiday reels, jigs, marches, hornpipes, and polkas fill the air and set the feet a tapping. bohola creates a delightful musical tapestry to celebrate the mid-winter season!
