Bio

The Lifters was founded by Nolo, a singer/song writer whose life began in Cote d’ Ivoire. Ghanaian through family lineage, his heritage attributes to his unique sense of music. As a child in his native West Africa, Nolo was already analyzing popular music. Although the opportunity to pursue music as a career did not exist, the passion for it never left him.. The artist currently lives in New York and has been exposureto the city's vibrant music scene. He has also traveled to many parts of WestAfrica where music is an integral part of the people's culture. He is a pioneer of Afro-Abissa music.

The other Lifters members are also musical experts, incredible players with years of experiences. Although many of them grew-up in America, they have studied and played African-style music for many years. Darrell the drummer, Amoti the bassist, Joe the Guitarist, and Lon the keyboardist, Michelle the Saxophonist and Raffi the horn player are all amazing players with keen ears for sound. In fact, you can literally yell to them and they will play it back to you.

The Lifters have many influences ranging from Fela Kuti, Meiway, and Bob Marley to James Brown, Ray Charles, the police and early U2.

Their aim is to create uplifting groovy African-style music with a modern edge. This has led to the creation of an awesome collection of songs. Bound to raise your mood and shake your booty. You can’t help but to boogie! “If you can't feel it, you may need to see a doctor,” says Nolo.
