Nomadix - Urban avantgarde from Denmark
Nomadix made its mark on the music scene at SPOT 2006, an international music festival, located in Denmark. Here they played an impressive concert. For this effort Nomadix received five stars in a review in the Danish music magazine GAFFA
Nomadix is well grounded on the ethnic urban scene where Aisha Ahmed Thorsen, the lead singer of the band, sports her insistent and intense rap as well as her melodic vocals. Producer Søren Kabu Ocansey adds an edge to the raw hip hop beats and spice up the music with ethnic undertones.
We aim at bridging extremes to a point where the raw edge meets the beautiful and melodic, Søren explains.
Aisha Thorsen adds: Life has many facets. It is both beautiful and raw. We experience joy and fear, love and injustices, euphoria and jealousy, friendship and prejudice. Our music reflects all these aspects
The duo feels a true involvement in world affairs and that is manifest in their lyrics. They touch upon political themes such as integration, prejudice and racism, bur also urban life as it unfolds itself through love, party life, and action.
It is important for us that our lyrics tell a story or convey a message. We have tales to tell. As Danes with different, mixed, ethnic backgrounds we would like to contribute to tear down barriers between cultures, Aisha states.
