The name is Nook. A simple one syllable name but Nook’s personality is complex. The words dynamic, unique, articulate, and intriguing are words that describe Nook.
He is of Puerto Rican and Hawaiian decent born in the Washington DC suburb of Bethesda, Maryland. Growing up a Navy brat living in many places for short periods of time and spending each summer in South Bronx (NY) helped to make him at ease in many different situations while also giving him a place to call home. South Bronx is where he discovered his passion for music. There he wrote rhymes day and night, while living in a small apartment in St. Mary’s Park. He was taught that if you use the talents in which God gives you, you will thrive to excellence. Nook believes his gift is a talent for music. The genesis of Nook’s display of his passion occurred in the basement of his home in Dale City, Virginia on a Karaoke machine. At the age of 12, he wrote and completed his first single and shortly after came his first album. At that time, he was merely having fun, unaware that this hobby would one day turn into his hearts desire. Nook's father noticed his son’s talent and took a special interest in him. He transformed the basement into a recording studio with a semi-sound proof booth, and many other amenities Nook would need to pursue his passion and realize his dream.

The events of September 11, 2001 inspired Nook to record a song dedicated to his father. Nook’s father, a firefighter, was one of many firefighters that responded to the attack on the Pentagon. Nook didn’t hear from his father for several days after the attack. He was devastated. Emotions provoked in Nook by this event produced lyrics he had not realized he possessed the talent to create. This was the spark Nook needed to take his passion to the next level. He worked hard to develop his ability to change his wordplay and flow and has become one of the most diverse artists to hit the local music scene.
From 2002 to 2008, Nook, alongside his younger brother and protégé, won numerous musical competitions, and in 2005 performed over 200 shows. Among his victories is the Unsigned Hype Award for 2003. At the Indie Music Awards in New York City, he and his brother were awarded the Best Group Performance. That same year they also won the Millennium Talents Award, and more recently the 2007 Best Hip Hop Group Award.
To quote the words of his mother and father, “music is his life; he wakes up to it, and goes to sleep doing it." In his own words; “Getting to know me is priceless. I have, and have always had, a strong passion for my music since I was ten years old.”
On each of his arms is a tattoo of a microphone and the four artists who had tragic deaths in which two of them (Notorious B.I.G and 2Pac) left a lasting scar on the industry. His tattoos are permanent and so is his love for music. Nook’s passion for music is unparalleled. His unique ability to combine swagger, superior lyrical strength, articulate wordplay, and sex appeal (proven by the screams at his performances) in one package is the makings of a Superstar!

“I love being on stage where I can truly take over and express myself. My performances grasp every audience and my sound grabs every listener. I feed off love and I feed off hate.”
