No-namer

My wishing star is all burnt out tonight,
I’ve been so down to Earth I forgot about astronomy.

I’m searching to find a lamp that’s half as bright,
To try and make up for my lack in luminosity

In my cosmos all that meets the eye,
Are half-moon hopes in black and white,
All those golden galaxies are far from me

The more I call to them the more I see,
That what I say is what I scream,
I want those stars to shine cuz they know me, because they know me…

So think of me as a stranger, cuz I don’t have a reason to be here…
And label me…a no-namer—gotta get outta orbit to define me.
And if I get lost in space, I’ll get rush hour-crazed on Orion’s interstate
But now I digress…I’m just an Earthling in a dress…

The doctor looks at me with tired eyes,
‘Cuz he no longer hopes for a rapid rate recovery,
It’s so hard to heal air sick mid flight,
I try and close my eyes but I still hear my wings complaining.

But I want to see the sun rise,
In different worlds and different skies,
All those aliens are true friends and lovers,
I’ll get some oxygen so I can breathe,
And show them that they’re close to me,
I’m just a few light years behind schedule, but I can catch up….

So think of me as a stranger, ‘ cuz I don’t have a reason to be here…
And label me…a no-namer—gotta get outta orbit to define me.
And if I get lost in space, falling stars are my partners-- the ground’s light years away,
But now I digress…I’m just an Earthling in a mess…

(Outtro)
It’s too late, it’s too far, but I will never let that get to me,
It’s too late, it’s too far, but I will get to my lost galaxy.

Life goes up and down,
Dear boy stay off the ground,
Float with your dreams today,
And you’ll be on your way.
