"Boston"

"These two well-traveled musicians are convincing, entertaining ambassadors for the wide-ranging facets of early music, music of the Canadian Maritimes, and traditional Scottish music they played. . . [Their] Telemann was sheerest pleasure, with its effortless tunefulness and sparely, brilliantly sketched harmonic framework. . . David Greenberg’s agile partnering of Chris Norman and his various sizes of flute left listeners with the impression of two lithely vocal lines with sweetly complimentary harmonics and interlocking, subtle fundamentals. This was magical, in fact. . . I enjoyed every minute of it, and was particularly impressed by the seamless transitions among the various styles included in the concert. The evening was brilliantly programmed and executed by the duo." - Boston Musical Intelligencer

"Chris"

“A musician like Chris Norman comes along, oh, perhaps once in a century. He’s the kind of player whose virtuosity serves the music without becoming the performance itself; whose exceptional technique not only is of the “he’s so good he makes it sound easy” variety, but also frees the music to reel out as if it, the instrument, and the player were one communicative entity. ” - CD Review

"David"

"There is energy to his playing of dance movements which impressively projects the physical impulses of the unseen dancers."
"Released at last, the audience went wild. Foot stomping was heard in the balcony. Whistles and cheers from all over, and cloudbursts of applause. It was unusual fare for Valentine's Day, really." - Halifax Chronicle Herald

Bio

Scottish and baroque music are the main root elements. Eighteenth-century Scottish music in particular cries out for an unusually large and unconventional palette of stylistic interpretations because its very nature defies classification as either folk or art music. Chris Norman & David Greenberg's duo sound has been honed over decades of collaboration & represents the ultimate in musical transparency and creative urgency.
