 West Palm Beach, Florida, USA
BandAmericanaSinger/Songwriter

Uplifting melodies and positive lyrics in a modern americana and/or country style. All American themes: God, love, marriage and best friends.

Biography

Norm started out singing & playing with garage bands in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then graduated to "Truc," who became one of Milwaukee's most successful and long-lasting bands (14 years as Truc and Truc of America). Their first real concert was on the main stage at SUMMERFEST for an estimated audience of about 15,000. This gig proved to be their big break as they opened an oldies show for Jerry Lee Lewis and were called back for an encore. A few months later they released a modern version of the the Capri's song "There's a Moon Out Tonight" that made #2 on the charts and a record contract with United Artists. Truc played just about every venue in Wisconsin including the Performing Arts Center with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Truc also played all over the midwest and eventually in half the states, Canada and Saudi Arabia.

After relocating to West Palm Beach, Florida, Truc of America evolved into quite a unique band known for original music with an entertaining show complete with comedy, costumes and props in the comedic style of Saturday Night Live and Monty Python. Their first, made for MTV video, "Clone Love" is available for viewing on You Tube at: www.youtube.com (then search for Truc of America or Clone Love.) Many other live videos from Atlanta's Video Music Channel are also available on You Tube.

Norm is currently working on many new songs with other song-writers and musicians. Please check out additional songs, videos and performance dates on MySpace, Reverb Nation, Facebook and Twitter.

Lyrics

In Love Again (June, 2011 version)

Written By: Norm McDonald

It's been twenty years since the day
You caught me lookin' at you, that way
Then what you said to me with those big blue eyes
Made me want to be with you, all the time (everytime I think about it...)

I'm in love again
Head over heels, I fall, for my best friend
Always together until the very end
I'm in love again

Now our little home is filled with growing boys
Lots of bills and way too many toys
And when life won't let me be in the middle of the night
Those blue eyes take me back to that very first time

And hey Honey, I'm in love again
Head over heals I fall for my best friend
Always together, until the very end
I'm in love again

I remember when your friends just couldn't believe
You would ever fall for a "man like me"
You said, let them lose their minds trying to figure it out
And let's give them something to talk about

And I'm in love again
Head over heals I fall for my best friend
Always together until the very end
I'm in love again

Yeah Honey, I'm in love again
Head over heals I fall for my best friend
Always together, until the very end
I'm in love again

Mom

Written By: Norm McDonald

Wisconsin farm girl livin' in the city
Fell in love with a sailor who thought she was pretty
Worked so hard to put us all through school
Five grown children later - the grand kids rule

She shares her life and wisdom flows
"Kindness grows everywhere it's shown"
"Only take advice from someone who knows"
And yes, "sometimes life has a mind of it's own"

Some call her "mom"
"Grandma"
"Sister"
"Daughter"
"My good friend"
I say Mom, you're a great-grandma
And I won't be late for dinner
Made by Jeanette

And like a hot chocolate on a cold winter's night
You know by her hug, it's gonna be alright
Her timeless wisdom will always be cherished
"It'll all get better before you get married!?!"

Some call her "mom"
"Grandma"
"Sister"
"Daughter"
"My good friend"
I say Mom, you're a great-grandma
And I won't be late for dinner
Made by Jeanette

Long Gone

Cherry red lips like she saw in a magazine
Lookin’ way too hot to have barely turned fifteen
Bobby’s at the door while Daddy does a background check
Momma said “You ain’t going anywhere dressed like that”

Then the screen door slammed like a shotgun
Just to give ‘em a piece of her mind
Motor’s revving so high, needle’s at the red line
You’d better step back inside

She was long gone, long gone
Feelin’ more like a woman than she ever had before
Long gone, long gone
Ain’t Daddy’s little girl can’t tell her what to do no more

They hit the road and had a baby girl by seventeen
There were mouths to feed, clothes to wash
Then Bobby started getting real mean
He stumbled through the door for the last time
When he saw that her bags were packed
Well, Bobby yelled “you ain’t going anywhere, get on back”

Then the screen door slammed like a shotgun
Just to give him a piece of her mind
Baby’s in the backseat, hit the gas with both feet
You’d better step back inside

She's long gone, long gone
Feelin’ more like a woman than she ever had before
Long gone, long gone
Ain’t Daddy’s little girl can’t tell her what to do no more

She had no place to go
Mom and Daddy said come back home
You can stay here until you get back on your feet
Days turned into years
And then the worst of all their fears…
Momma’s little baby girl was now a teen

And she had ruby red lips like she saw in a magazine
Lookin’ way too hot to have barely turned sixteen
Now Jimmy’s at the door while Grandpa does a background check
And Momma said, you ain’t goin’ anywhere dressed like that

Then the screen door slammed like a shotgun
Just to give ‘em a piece of her mind
What goes around is gonna come around
You’d better step back inside

Cause she’s a long gone, yeah, long gone
Feelin’ more like a woman than she ever had before
Cause she’s long gone, long gone
Ain’t Daddy’s little girl - can’t tell her what to do
Ain’t Momma’s little girl, can’t tell her how to chose
Ain’t Daddy’s little girl, can’t tell her what to do, no more

Turn It Around

Turn It Around
Norm McDonald, Rachel Morgan Perry

I’m up, shoes on, my clock’s way behind
Dog’s fed, door’s slammed, stuck here on 95
I say a quick prayer, Lord, get me out of here
Looked up, I swear I found the answer right there, the sign said

Life’s a special occasion
It is what you make it, so make it count
Is it full or is it half empty
Reality I see’s been bringing me down
It’s my choice now
It’s time to turn it around

Sick day, called in, they didn’t need me anyway
Coffee cup, old bench, Central Park, what a day
I hear a momma playin’, laughing with the little ones
Looked back, right there, remembered what brought me here

Life’s a special occasion
It is what you make it, so make it count
Is it full or is it half empty
Reality I see’s been bringing me down
It’s my choice now
It’s time to turn it around

Sometimes life takes you where you don’t wanna be
How could it be so simple, all I have to do is breathe

Life’s a special occasion
It is what you make it, so make it count
Is it full or is it half empty
Reality I see’s been bringing me down

Life’s a special occasion
It is what you make it, so make it count
Is it full or is it half empty
Reality I see’s been bringing me down
It’s my choice now
It’s time to turn it around

Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
It’s time to turn it around
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
It’s time to turn it around
