North End Jazz Quintet

North End Jazz Quintet

We play classic jazz from the 50's and 60's. We have a large book with tunes that cover wide range from soft an sweet to driving party music. Although we play mostly standards we do our own arrangements and strive to make them our own.

The North End Jazz Quintet (NEJQ) is composed of very experienced musicians with diverse backgrounds playing every imaginable kind of music. This particular band came together out of a common love of Jazz, particularly the jazz of the 50's and 60's. The band members ages span 3 decades. The only common thread is that we've always wanted to play this music. So think: Horace Silver, Stan Getz, Lee Morgan, Miles during the birth of cool years and that's what we're after.
We've been together less than a year and done a hand full of gigs. People seem to dig it which is cool. That's what it's about for us. None of us are trying to get famous, get rich or even get laid. We just love this music, love to play it and love to share it with people.

We have a demo CD available. Our website streams several songs from that recording (just follow the links). We have not pursued any radio play yet although we have a live radio broadcast coming up on our next gig.
