Bio
Northern Departure is a modern Bluegrass Band. Formed in October of 2008. Based out of Brier, Washington.
Band Members:
Derek Gray: Acoustic Upright Bass, Vocals
Nick Dumas: Mandolin, Fiddle, and Vocals.
Austin McGregor: Banjo, Vocals
Chris Luquette: Guitar, Mandolin, and Vocals
The four members of Northern Departure, though young, are veterans of the NW Bluegrass scene. Austin, Derek and Nick have spent many years as part of the highly acclaimed Bluegrass band, Three Generations. They performed throughout the NW.
Chris Luquette plays in The VZ Valley Boys. They are well known in the South King
county acoustic circuit. Chris, also, is a recent addition to The Outlaw Band, led by Singer/Songwriter, Michael O’Neill.
In 2009, the City of Brier presented Northern Departure the merit of “Outstanding citizenship” award. Individually, at the Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival, Nick Dumas and Austin McGregor took 1st and 2nd in the open instrument contest. Chris Luquette placed 1st in the guitar contest.
2010 promises to be an exciting year for Northern Departure. They are working on their debut CD. Expected to be released in 2010.
