"No Second Thought - Monster"

If Nickelback didn't suck, they might be No Second Thought. The Hollywood-based indie trio's CD "Monster", which is available on iTunes, is full of dark, catchy, and trippy-as-hell tunes. Funky! - HUSTLER MAGAZINE

Bio

Your first impulse is always your purest. When you question it, you blur your original intention and overcomplicate everything. It is, really, all quite simple.
That is the theory no second thought shared when the band came together in 2007. Comprised of Chris Albers on vocals and guitar, Jason Paulsen on bass, and Mario Lackner on drums, the trio holed up in their rehearsal studio for well over a year, writing, jamming, creating an identity and shaping their sound. NST’s debut album, “monster,” was distilled from hours of recorded jams, mixed with hooks that were sitting on hard drives, begging to become part of something bigger.
The theory of first impulse, of not entertaining a second thought, proved a dynamic method for the band’s writing process. Capturing the excitement of new ideas by recording improvised jams, a lot of inspired playing turned into songs. Keeping true to form, the band recorded “monster” live in two days as rhythm section tracks with no metronome. Vocals and guitar overdubs followed. Blending the heaviness and riffage of Jason and Chris’ former band, “Living In Question,” with the precise, jazz-inspired drumming of Mario Lackner, the band resembles a Rage Against The Machine who refuse to play 4/4, or a Porcupine Tree without the 10 minute interludes. “Monster’s” mix of frantic, in-your-face rockers and moody, dark ballads make for a dynamic listening experience; good headphones and a 52 minute break in your schedule are highly recommended.
The spring of 2010 saw the departure of Mario Lackner, and in the fall, Jason Austan took on drumming duties. With a set of songs old and new, No Second Thought is poised for a energetic 2011, check the shows page for live dates....
