Bio
Berlin-based by way of Amsterdam, Nosoyo is a magnetic duo built on addictive
indie pop sound and fueled by strong-willed, seductive lyrics.
Both longtime students of their craft and multi-instrumentalists, lead vocalist and
lyricist Donata Kramarz and drummer Daim de Rijke joined forces in 2014.
Influenced by Nina Simone to Sia, Nosoyo is known for sound that evolves from
stripped-down to hypnotic, verging on aggressive.
They look like actors you’d handpick for an indie rom com about an up-and-coming
band—which is why they’ve already been featured in VOGUE NL, ELLE NL and probably
why people keep asking Kramarz if she writes her own lyrics. She does.
After completing their studies at Conservatorium van Amsterdam’s pop department,
Nosoyo was lured to Berlin, a city that’s become a creative powerhouse for
artists and musicians alike. There, they’ve joined forces with producer Patrik Majer of
the Freudenhaus Studio, well-known for his work with f.e. Wir Sind Helden. Their first single ‘6 or 7 weeks’ was released in November 2015 and received a lot of positive attention on the radio as well as on streaming services like Spotify, Deezer and AppleMusic.
As Nosoyo, they’ve performed in venues across Europe, opening for acts such as
AURORA, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Is Tropical, Cayucas, Jarryd James, The Dø, Joy Wellboy, Say Yes Dog and VÖK.
Dedicated to authenticity in an industry where cookie cutter artists are becoming the norm, Kramarz and de Rijke are constantly challenging their music, and each other, to evolve creatively and make no compromises.
The name Nosoyo comes from an attempt at Spanish turned happy accident.
Translating to “I am not myself,” - an ecstatic feeling Nosoyo has each time they step on stage.
The first singles ‘6 or 7 weeks’ and ‘Disillusioned’ were embraced enthousiastically by radio and streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music.
The new single ‘Old Soul’ is coming out on the 30th of September, a song about letting go of fear and holding on to each other.
‘Transparent, eccentric, not too cheery, but haunting, intense and passionate.’
