Bio

2010 was an amazing year for the recent Wesleyan University graduate. The Brooklyn emcee L.A, born Latasha Alcindor, debuted as a lyricist in May 2010 when she appeared in We Got Bars VOL.1 as the only female in a predominantly male freestyle cipher. After positive reviews, she went on to perform at several of New York’s top music venues such as the Bowery Poetry Club, Public Assembly, Crash Mansion and as an opener for G.O.O.D Music Artist, Big Sean, at NYU’s Kimmel Center. L.A also showcased her work as a playwright earlier in the year with her first stage production, "The Memoirs of Hip Hop. The play, which was written, starred and produced by L.A, debuted at the ’92 Theater in Middletown, CT during Wesleyan University’s Wesfest Weekend. The show was sold out three nights in a row.

L.A starts off 2011 with a bang by premiering her first mixtape and mini movie, The Presentation. Influenced by classic albums such as The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Kanye West’s College Dropout, the tape’s setting begins in a classroom and gives the listener a virtual walkthrough of her learning process as a lyricist.
“The Presentation is not just about my learning process as a lyricist but also to present pieces of myself to the world. I want to educate people and create songs that people can relate to.” says L.A. The mixtape features other upcoming artists such as D.Julien, Scienze, Eric Sosa, Melodi J and more.

Most recently she was featured on MTV2’s Sucker Freestyle and gaining considerable support in Canada.

Look out for L.A as she continues her performance and media tour to support the new project, L.A Riots- July 2011.
