NOTHING YET

It started like most bands in a garage circa 1992 in the beautiful San Fernando Valley, the porn capital of the world! Out of boredom and teen angst a group of silly adolescent party animals carved out punk chords and tributes about all things relevant to 15-year-olds across the Valley. With the Toy Dolls, NoFX, and Bad Religion still ringing in their ears, the power trio, Nothing Yet, graduated high school packed up their van with their 7”inch record, Scratch ‘n’ Sniff and toured North to the Canadian border, South to Ensenada, Mexico, East to Nashville, Tennessee, (and everywhere in between), to meet all the friends they had not yet met and polish their skills as wannabe musicians. Fast forward thru a revolving door of band-mates… A few years and a couple thousand miles later, the current line-up emerged and found themselves in Hawaii performing and enjoying the success of the 1999 debut self-titled album (available on iTunes) and pondered the next shape of the band to come. In 2005, still drawing from their punk roots and adding a heavy element of deep-seated rage to their sound, the band released DUI (available on iTunes), a concept album declaring the infallibility of living life on the edge or just simply hating the cops. The sounds were akin to 18-wheeled chainsaw guitars, barreling down a bass-line alley lined with 10-ton kick drums. In a moment of clarity, Nothing Yet, put forth the most recent and pivotal release, Man Overboard, proving that they had reached the next plateau of their musicianship to connect to their audience on a deeper, more personal level. Man Overboard conveys images and poetry amongst sound-scapes that entice the listener with its sexy vulgar boldness and tongue-in-cheek playfulness. Over the years, the band has entertained many audiences dressed as highway patrolmen, playing naked thru the set, or just plain rocking a local Taco Bell (see footage on YouTube) to help a friend get fired. Although Nothing Yet has steadily matured throughout its 10+ years of existence, from the ideals of a young punk to playful pop princess sing-alongs, to Ted Nugent lit on fire, the band will continue to draw from its rich history of experience and its collage of musical tastes to entertain and captivate any audience it chooses.
