"Mixtape Mondays"

OurStage artist NoTiQ has been one of my favorite discovers on the site in the past year. Hailing from Georgia, he brings a Southern sensibility to urban music that, coupled with a surprisingly strong ear for hooks, makes him a voice to listen for in 2013. The iLliterate Papers puts his unique flow on full display with few features and no major appearances. This is organically grown new music, and it goes down smoother than any bandwagon-riding rap ever could. - Ourstage.com

"SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM THE SOUTH! CHECK OUT NOTIQ!!"

NoTiQ, a 24-year-old unsigned hip-hop/rap artist from Marietta, GA is definitely a change from the stereotypical southern rapper. He doesn’t have any new dances for you to learn, but definitely a great sound and some real lyrics that reflect on his life. Released back in July of 2009, The Prelude EP is just that….a prelude to NoTiQ’s upcoming full-length mixtape entitled The ILliterate Papers. The lead single is “Woozy” featuring B.Ware and produced by Saki XL. Check him out and download right here. For more info on Notiq check him out on his website www.theiLliteratePapers.com. - HustlenGrind.com

"Mixtape Awareness: NoTiq – ‘The Prelude EP’ (To the ILliterate Papers)"

I have a tendency to post tracks and albums that you may not necessarily see on the everyday music blog….usually songs that I’m feelin’ at the moment (even if it’s from 10 years ago), and songs/albums from artists that are deserving of some additional awareness simply because they have a passion for their art (yes, music is an art form).

Saying all of that, I have an album that you may wanna check out. I don’t think we’ve ever featured an artist from Marietta Georgia, but we have one for ya today. He goes by the name of NoTiQ, a 24-year-old unsigned hip-hop/rap artist from my beloved southern region of the U.S.

I know some of y’all like to stereotype our southern rappers, but no, he doesn’t have any new dances for you to learn for your Saturday trip to the club. NoTiQ’s music is a reflection of his life.

Released back in July of 2009, The Prelude EP is just that….a prelude to NoTiQ’s upcoming full-length mixtape entitled The ILliterate Papers. The lead single is “Woozy” featuring B.Ware and produced by Saki XL. I, however, have the entire mini-mixtape here for you to check out and download, courtesy of bandcamp.com. Comments are more than welcome folks. We’d love to hear what you think. - indieon65.wordpress.com

Bio

NoTiQ,whose real name is Gabriel Rudd, was born in Albany Georgia February 13, 1986.

Raised in Marietta, Ga, NoTiQ showed an affinity for music and writing very early. Playing instruments like the drums, trumpet, french horn, and tuba in school and in church showed his true passion for musical creativity. Also and avid reader and writer, NoTiQ would compose stories, poems, and songs constantly.

During high school, music took a back seat to academics and sports, which helped prepare for life in college. Attending Wingate University near Charlotte, NC, NoTiQ soon rediscovered this love for music in the form of rap. As continuing college basketball began to become less and less of a reality, NoTiQ relied on hip-hop to remain productive while then taking classes at Mercer University in Macon, Ga.

In 2006 after leaving Mercer, NoTiQ released a mixtape titled "The Audacity of Hip-Hop". This mixtape inspired by Obama's "Audacity of Hope" showed NoTiQ's attention to culturally relevant event's as well as personal trials within his own life over original and industry beats. The project was well received by the college community, online community, and various youths alike. NoTiQ also begin performing more and more across Atlanta, becoming a regular at open mics and a few notable showcases.

Since then NoTiQ has started a blog titled "The iLliterate Papers" at TheilliteratePapers.blogspot.com as well as his independently managed website TheiLliteratePapers.com.

Notable projects include a syndicated iTunes video podcast titled "Lust for The Limelight" which attracted hundreds of viewers every episode. An official remix of Karina's debut 16@ War, garnering critical acclaim and over 45,000 views on youtube. Pleasure P unofficial Remix of "I Did You Wrong" with over 120,000 views on youtube. There are also many other songs and videos such as Ourstage.com's sponsored "Marietta/Tokyo"

NoTiQ remained busy in 2008 by releasing "The Prelude EP" for digital download via his websites, blogs, and hip hop sites such as Thehiphoppodcast.com "The Prelude EP" is a collection of songs NoTiQ released and performs in anticipation for his upcoming mixtape "The iLliterate Papers" to be released in the Summer of 2010. "The Prelude EP" has been received very well and consists of NoTiQ's single "Woozy" ft B.Ware. Woozy will be hitting radio very soon.
