"Myrtle Beach Rocks"

Concert report from the "Red Beard"; Myrtle Beach Rocks:

Prior to Saturday, the only knowledge I had of Not Yet Rated was that the guys who make up the band are young and extraordinarily talented: Now that I've seen them live, I know that statement is accurate on both counts. Despite their age, NYR have a stage presence that would rival some better known national acts, not to mention the artistic ability to back it up. This combination of youth and skill is going to take NYR far in the world of music, and I would not be surprised to hear of them being a saught after commodity once someone in the industry gets wind of them

"(Thornley/NYR) report"

All I can say is [censored] EXCELLENT!!!!

Man! What a GREAT show!

I had a great time tonight!! Foremost, really enjoyed hanging out with Dragon from Bleen, Brian from the HOB and all of the listeners I had the pleasure of meeting tonight!

Prior to tonight, I had never heard or seen NOT YET RATED. This was my initiation. Dragon asked me before the guys took the stage if I had seen them before. I told him "no" and he laughed, then knowingly said, "Man, they're gonna blow you away."
The curtain broke and NYR took the stage. HOLY CRAP! These guys ROCK! Well written, tight songs with plenty of chops!! Their drummer is killer, their vocalist has an excellent stage presence, their bass player is in the pocket - and their guitar player storms the stage like the angry young man that he is.....these guys are STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!! Whaaa....?!?!?!
It must have been apparent that I was pretty impressed because about three songs into NYR's set, Dragon leaned over to me and said "See? Told ya so! ha!" (or something to that effect - I couldn't totally hear him as NYR was perfectly LOUD!)

Great set !!!!!! - Brian Rickman- Music director from WKZQ in Myrtle Beach:

Bio

We are a young group from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, that's been jamming together since May of 2003. Starting together at 15 and 16 years old, the practice, dedication, and the support of our hometown, has steadily moved us forward into the local music scene of Myrtle Beach.
After participating in several shows at “The House of Blues” including Music for Life (which raised over $6,000.00 for a 9 month old little girl with cancer), and "Myrtle Beach Rocks" (Local Band Festival), we realized that we had something very special, and that music was what we all wanted to pursue. We had a unique bond of not only music, but friendship as well.
We've been very grateful for the opportunities that we've been given, such as recently opening for the upcoming acts Breaking Benjamin, Crossfade, Three Days Grace, Submersed and Magna-Fi. Regional shows are steadily being booked like slots opening with Lacuna Coil in Jacksonville, NC (Planet Rocks.) “Not only were those guys were really awesome, but very humble as well”. We were honored to be the opening act for Thornley, in their first debut headline tour in the United States.
After being around these great musicians and watching them perform, we feel like we have really learned a lot about the interaction with people that's necessary to succeed in the music business. We've been fortunate to have been able to see a clear view of our dreams at such an early age. Our philosophy with spreading our music is to play to the fans. We know that by you guys supporting us, we've taking strides forward in a positive direction. We were honored to take the title as "2005 Radio Super Showcase" In conjunction with the Alantis Music Festival -In Greenville SC and as “Redline Power Sports Battle of the Bands” winners, which included an opening act with 38-Special. Its good to be able to play with the bands of our generation, but to have been able to be on the stage with these guys who created such a unique sound in their music, back in the day, was an experience in itself!
