"Nova - Singer Songwriter Sensation"

f you’re into high fashion, clever lyrics, and finding music that is completely original, Nova is about to become your favorite local Christian artist! Nova Page has been taking the San Diego music scene by storm and is not apologizing for it! She has played a handful of charities in the last few weeks, and while she considers her music as “contemporary”, it is packed full of Christian lyrics and values which is a great alternative to the songs that we hear regularly on the radio.
Nova’s style is an infusion of Jazz vocals, smart R&B grooves, and can pass as world music as well. She has a similar style to secular artists Anjulie, Macy Gray, Nelly Furtado and Kelis, and her tracks could easily blow up as dance music, but stand on their own as well. She talks about love, life, and family in this album, and attacks many of the “unspoken” Christian conversations that are regularly overlooked in day to day life.
On top of her absolutely dazzling music, Nova’s album “On the Couch” includes great pictures and her website is as professional as they come. I was very impressed with her materials and she honestly cuts no corners when it comes to her music. Nova is a class act, and Christian musicians would do well to take a page out of her book. She also gives a great performance, and I was extremely impressed to wake up and watch her on Channel 6 news a few weeks ago. I believe she is breathing life into the San Diego music scene and people are starting to take notice! A few weeks ago, she played a show at the Bitter End, which normally has about 10 to 20 people. Nova not only sold out the show on a weeknight, but had a line outside that had more customers at the venue then they normally have on a weekend!
She has already received acclaim from both the secular music industry and Christian music industry for the album. She received “Best of the Blessed” at this year’s Christian Music Awards, and is one of Cece Winan’s favorite artists. She was also a finalist in this year’s Temecula Film Festival.
The best songs on her album are probably “On the Couch”, which talks about taking time out of the day to make sure the family is all together, and all problems are out in the open, and “Deeper” which talks about striving to see the beauty within instead of just on the outside.
I’m really excited to see Nova again in the future, and believe that her music will touch the lives of many people not only in San Diego, but across the U.S. - Good News Etc.

"LISTS-FAVE LINDSAY WHITE: THE INTERVIEW"

SDR: Who do you peg as the best bet for a career surge in the near future (and why)?

LW: I wish I had the self-promotion skills to lie and say my music is the best bet for a career surge in the near future. But I have no desire to "make it" in a household name kind of way. I hope that my music career will surge in the sense that I can actually call it my only career. If I could make a modest living writing music, that would be the ultimate career surge for me.

Someone who I do see going "all the way" is Nova. I saw her perform a few weeks ago, and she blew the roof off the place. I have never witnessed a more polished local act. She has everything the major music leaguers are looking for: amazing voice, musical ability, very talented band, radio-friendly tunes, great following, and gorgeous to top it off. - San Diego Reader

"Excellent"

"On the Couch" has a beautiful cohesive vibe throughout the entire CD. Brandon's R&B/Pop music joints and bangin' beats sets up the perfect backdrop for Nova's lyrical genius to come alive. I've had the honor of working with a few music stars in my life, and I must say Nova & Brandon are destined for success! Put this CD in the right hands of any label executive and there will be no limits on the success of this music! You've got to buy this CD! Seriously... - Jonni Glaser

"Nova Page Singer, Songwriter, Artellectural"

Nova's personality is true to its moniker; it packs a blindng punch. "Apparently I was unexpected. So my parents named me Nova which means 'new exploding star.' Their nickname for me was 'New Joy.' But I prefer to tell people that my name comes from being conceived in the back of a Chevy Nova!"

Nova's voice can be heard in a lot of places lately; daytime talk divas Tyra Banks and Ellen Degeneres have walked their respective catwalks to her tunes, TMZ, Extra, The CW, CBS, ABC adn teh Oxygen Network have used her songs. Early partnerships wiht producers who worked with Tupac Shakur, Stevie Wonder, and Earth, Wind and Fire gave her a head start in an industry known for squashing dreams. - Risen Magazine Spring 2009 p.10

Bio

If you ask someone that was born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada what their primary language was growing up, you might expect for them to say English, or even French. However, if you ask native Canadian Nova Page what her first language was, she will undoubtedly smile, and tell you that her first language was Music.

Nova was born to sing. At the tender age of two she was already singing solos at her church. By the time that she turned thirteen, Nova was writing and recording jingles for local and national marketing campaigns. After touring Canada and parts of the U.S. with a Variety show in her late teenage years, Nova soon landed in Southern California where she began a career in music.

After signing with an independent record label, Nova began gaining experience working with a diverse array of established producers from K-Lou (produced rapper E-40) to Femi Ojetunde (produced projects with Quincy Jones) just to name a few. However, after years of being told by industry types where, how, and what she should sing, she was so discouraged by the process that, at her lowest point, she vowed that she would never sing again. Shortly after she left for Las Vegas, Nevada and buried her talents in the desert sand. Fortunately, her faith and support system would help to pick her up, dust her off and keep her moving toward sharing the God-given gifts that make up who she is.

Nova soon left Las Vegas and moved to San Diego, California, where she reacquainted herself with the music industry and quickly became known locally as a powerful stage performer, highly demanded studio session singer, and dynamic songwriter. Working on projects ranging from writing and singing demos alongside renowned bass player and producer Josquin Des Pres, to authoring music construction kits for sample loop giant Big Fish Audio, Nova continued to develop her uniquely soulful vocal style. All the while she was waiting and praying for an avenue to share her own music story with the world.

Nova’s time came shortly after when she was introduced to an up and coming young producer named Brandon Steppe by another artist, King David of T.H.U.G. Gospel Records. The Two clicked creatively and began work on Novas first solo release titled, “On the Couch”.

“For me, ‘On the Couch’ is not just an album. It is the fruit of years of perseverance through tough experiences, hard work, and Godly timing. I am thankful that I have been given the opportunity to tell my story told the way that it was put in my heart to tell. I pray that the stories on this album, some mine, some inspired by others, will touch those that they were created to touch and leave a lasting impression. I invite you to sit down, relax, and listen.”
