Novada
These White Lies Die With Us
456

Novada paint epic, cathartic landscapes with hard-driving percussion, electronic overtures and atmospheric guitars laded with the perfect amount of feedback — all led by earnest vocals. The band shows great potential for future endeavors. - JM

"Detroit Free Press Review"

To start, the members of Novada sisn't know how Detroit fans rooted
in a mostly grimy garage sound and laid-back slacker style would recieve their glam-rock looks and hook-laden new wave sound. "At first, I thought the hipsters were just going to hate us because we were coming out withvelvet coats & that glitter thing".
says lead singer Hayze.
Then we go up onstage and we just
kick as much ass as we can, and luckily we've been able to change a lot of peoples minds."
The band blends several elements:
raw energy, the flair of "Ziggy"-era
David Bowie and brash contemporary
pop reminiscent of The Killers, attempting to woo the hearts and minds of blue collar Detroiters one performance @ a time.
Released on Halloween 2006 the bands full-length "These White Lies Die With Us" is a collection of catchy
guitar driven modern rock nuggets in the spirit of the Cars and early U2.
Nostalgic for the raw power of yesterdays arena rock the Novada guys are quick to say that their image and presence isnt the only
reason they stand-out in their Detroit scene.

"Recoil Magazine Review"

Less geeky than Coheed & Cambria
and with better songs than The Bravery, Detroit-based quartet Novada leave no snsative modern rock crag of the last 20 years unexplored. Having more in common
with their U2-type predecessors than their Coldplay contemporaries, Novada uses affected electric guitars and synth to accentuate the dramatic lyrics of the singer known
only as Hayze. Carefully produced the album takes full advantage of the stereo field filling all the little spaces between the speakers with understatedly articulate instrument-ation. Overall an accomplished first effort from this band of new-school
Detroiters. - by: R.C.

"Maximum Ink Review"

I read once that Wes Anderson hears the soundtrack for his films as he’s writing them, making notes for specific songs to play over certain scenes. Upon first listen to “These White Lies Die With Us,” the debut full-length
from Detroit indie-rockers Novada, I had a similar experience I envisioned imaginary scenes as I listened to each track.

In my movie, the album’s title track, “These White Lies” is a near perfect anthem for the male lead to enter the story. The high-energy “London Smiles” is playing during the party scene; in which everyone looks more hip and is having more fun than could ever happen in real life. I see the Molly Ringwald female lead of my movie “finding herself” as “Butterfly” plays…and so on. With 80s movie references coming to mind, it came as little surprise to read Novada’s influences are: The Cars, The Cure and The Police among others. The guitar laden synth-pop aspects of these groups come through as the icing on a cake baked by Bernard Sumner and David Bowie. The tracks on “These White Lies Die With Us” are arena-ready rock songs dressed in velvet Detroit thrift-store clobber, making NOVADA the ideal choice for my imaginary 80s movie classic!
Now someone get this disc over to Wes Anderson! -JK

Novada… Well, what can I say?

I saw these guys open up for Sponge at the Bijou in Toledo on November 22, 2006 and was blown away!

I host a local music show on WIOT called The New Rock Review, and these guys do the local music scene proud – stage presence, hook-laden song structure, top-notch musicianship & professionalism… and their CD “These White Lies Die With Us” is proof that these guys take their craft very seriously.

The response from Novada’s appearance on the New Rock Review was overwhelmingly positive, and they have quickly picked up a loyal Toledo following.

I predict great things for the Novada boys, and look forward to hearing whatever they may have to offer in the future.

Thanks Novada! You guys rock!

Novada is like a blast from the past; like the early-80’s with a millennium fresh sound.

I’ve watched the crowds watching
Novada, and they never take their
eyes off of them!

With strong songs and a strong live-presence, Novada carves their niche in our competitive Detroit music-scene.

Bio

Novada was established in January of 2004 in the outskirts of Detroit. Comprised of four musicians with four very different backgrounds and one distinct musical vision, the band is making a name for themselves based upon an emphasis on songwriting and their electric live show.

The band has spent the last two years recording their full-length debut "These White Lies Die With Us..." (rel. October 31, 2006) and building a reputation from the ground-up with performances opening for such bands as Lovedrug, The Stills, Sponge, Vast, and Silverchair, to name a few; as well as being selected from hundreds of bands to play a SPIN Magazine-sponsored show at Ford Field in Detroit as a part of the first-ever Motor City Music Conference.

Novada has broken onto every major modern-rock radio station in it's region with airplay and features on 88.7 CIMX, 101.1 WRIF and 104.7 WIOT (see press).

The band has also played to full or near-capacity crowds at major venues, such as:

-St. Andrew's Hall (Detroit, MI)
-The Magic Bag (Ferndale, MI)
-The Magic Stick (Detroit, MI)
-The Whitney Hotel (Detroit, MI)
-Smalls (Hamtramck, MI)
-The Blind Pig (Ann Arbor, MI)
-The Machine Shop (Flint, MI)
-Club Bijou (Toledo, OH)
-Double Door (Chicago, IL)
-Skully's (Columbus, OH)

...as well as many others.

With the recent availability of their debut CD on iTunes, Rhapsody, and Sony CONNECT, Novada stands poised to make their mark on mainstream music today.
