Bio
No Way Josie is an electro-pop duo of two NYC bike messengers banned from using front doors. Multi- instrumentalist/producer Fakemoney & singer/songwriter Kym Perfetto met while racing alleycats and began collaborating in 2011. The result? Music you would expect from two hyper Brooklynites that prefer to play in traffic: heavy beats, catchy hooks, sassy vocals and plenty of whomp.
NWJ has established themselves as a solid contender in the dance music scene. FrostWire, an app for android, featured NWJ's debut EP and within a month, their EP had over 120,000 downloads. Their music has been likened to Calvin Harris, Azalea Banks, and Selena Gomez, though their style and execution is completely unique. The duo's most recent release, Freakness, displays a darker, grittier sound. From the bass-heavy title track to the sexy rasp of Waiting Outside, NWJ's catalogue is versatile, edgy and very danceable.
While the two began as a recording project, their live show has evolved into an adreline-fueled event of it's own, complete with a light show. With years of DJ’ing under his belt, Fakemoney deftly maneuvers between knob-tweaking, crowd-hyping, keyboards and backing vocals. Meanwhile Kym’s former-life-as-a-dancer makes for a magnetic front-woman you can’t take your eyes off of. Whether No Way Josie is sharing the night with DJ’s, rock bands, punk bands or hip-hop artists- the duo has the ability to win over any crowd. With a DIY attitude- their show can be low- maintenance and versatile. Kym will climb over bars and hang from ceilings while Fakemoney can DJ, trigger lights and ride a bike at the same time if the opportunity were to arise (and it has). The result is an infectious, unpretentious, sweaty, every-body-get-down dance party.
