Bio

Nowhere Near was originally established in 1996 by co-founders Kurt Arthington (vox & guitar) and Joe Casalduc (guitar). Kurt and Joe had formed a partnership in song writing beginning in 1993. The band has been an original rock band throughout its 15-year history.

In late 2005, Ray Anaya, a long time friend of the band, joined as drummer and the band was able to begin writing the ground work for its future. Six months later in 2006, Bob ‘Bones’ Malone filled in the final piece of the puzzle on bass. Bones came in as a seasoned and experienced bass player to bring down the thunder that the band so desperately needed.

The current line-up has played at 12 Galaxies in San Francisco for the Bodog Competition; made it to the semi-finals of the Emergenza Festival at the Rockit Room in San Francisco; performed at the Fat Cat Music House & Lounge in Modesto; played at The Next Bar in Fresno, The Partisan in Merced, La Grange Saloon, as well as other venues and festivals throughout the Central Valley and Foothills. Nowhere Near has been a featured artist at the last four Monsterfest music festivals.

The band spent most of 2008 recording and releasing the fourth Nowhere Near CD, called ‘Ghost in a Wherehouse’. The ten song CD featured the first new songs written with the current line-up and is being sold at local music stores, at live performances, and on-line at iTunes, Amazon, Napster, & Rhapsody. There is a new EP/CD in the works for 2011. You can check out more on Nowhere Near at www.nowherenearrocks.com
