Charming, harmonic and full of zest, the guy-girl bounce in the Asbury indie-rockers’ sunny single “Emily Part I” is pure pop splendor. An addictive 2:57, the song has the spontaneous vocal delivery you’d hear from The Shins and Belly if they were eating brunch with Frank Black on a rocket ship around the rings of Saturn. The crew gets folky too in its snap-along sound-scape but in a Mary-Lou-Lord-meets-Matt-Pond-Pa-sort of way. And that’s warming as hell. The 2009 Asbury Music Award winners for Top Indie Band play The Mill Hill Basement (300 S. Broad St., Trenton) tomorrow night. Show starts at 10. Satellite Hearts (ex-Honah Lee/Dead Flowers) headline. Hightstown’s Attic Dancers play, too. Tickets cost $5. 21-plus. - The Trentonian
