Assembled in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA, USA in May 2011, N.Ta.J launched with the original members Andriell Nikierra Lindsey (Nikie), Shataya Sabbryiah Durham ( Taya), and Jasmine Joy Harrell (Jazz). The name comes from the beginning letters of their nick names (N)ikie,(Ta)ya, (J)azz). Nikie and Shataya were middle school friends who cheered together, then later became dance members for a popular group based out of Atlanta, GA. Taya and Jazz are God sisters and also sung in the church choir together at a young age. Taya and Nikie went to the Manager of the group they were dancing for asking him what he thought about creating a group for them. Originally the Manager requested for it to be a total of four girls for the group. Nikie and Taya both asked a few friends they thought were good enough to join what they were trying to establish, but each one of them did not show up when it was time to meet with the Manager. At that time Shataya mother called her best friend and asked if Jazz would be interested and she accepted and came over. From that day on the three of them created a bond through singing, cheering, and dancing. Each one of these ladies brings a different taste to the group.

That summer the girls began to work. They were in some of the top Recording Studios in Atlanta with some of the top producers in the industry. Their first project was produced by the Grammy Winning Producer Bolo Productions who also produced Jamie Foxxs Grammy winning song Blame It . During that summer of 2011 thru the winter of 2012 the girls did numerous performances throughout the Metro Atlanta area. Some shows include 107.9 fm Miss Juicys Shorty Rip the Runway, Riverdale Town Center, Point South Middle School, Atlantas Annual Stunt Fest, Ritz II Night Club, Silver Ice Night Club, and the list can go on. These girls have strived and fought for the shine they are dreaming of and sooner or later they will get it.

Nikie was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 22, 1997 to the parents of Satyris Barnes and Joseph Lindsey. Nikie moved to Atlanta at the age of 3yrs with her mother. She was in cheerleading, dance and band for her whole middle school year. She is set to graduate in the spring of 2015. Shataya was born in Augusta, GA on October 21, 1997 to the parents of Kyneisha Norman and Gary Durham. At the age of 7yrs old she moved to Atlanta, GA with her mother. She also was involved with cheerleading, dance, and step dancing during her middle school year. She is set to graduate in the spring of 2016. Jazz was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 1, 1996 to the parents of Denise Harrell and Kenneth Hall. Jazz moved to Atlanta at the age of 6yrs old with her mother. She too, was involved in cheerleading, dance, and step dancing her middle school year. She is set to graduate the spring of 2014. These three girls all have their own personality and style that mesh very well together. Each girl represents a certain trait they all carry, but at different times. These girls are determined to make it to the top and with the help of their committed support system they have no choice to rise.
