Biography

"Woody Allen was an auteur: he did his Thing, and that particular Thing was completely his own. That's what I decided to do with music.... Musically, there is no one who has the career I want. That's why I have to use film directors as a model."
-Danger Mouse

Though they have their own take on the idea, Nuclear O'Reilly can certainly relate to Danger Mouse's quote. Jared DiDomenico and Brad Naprixas have been making music for much of their (so far!) short lives. They've played in rock bands, made electronic and hip hop songs, and have written soundtracks for motion pictures and website applications. It seems that, for better or worse, easy labels have eluded them.

Fortunately, they find themselves in step with the times to some degree. The past decade has seen people's tastes and eclecticism growing, and mash ups of different sounds and styles becoming more common, the next steps in music's evolution. We've also recently seen the rise of new music producers who blur the lines between older delineations of artist and producer. New producers are increasingly both hired to make music for others and also release their own music under their own name.

Technology and better communication may be making the world smaller and allowing more cross-pollination between genres of music and the arts in general (think of how much sound and motion picture have fused in the wake of music videos). However, Nuclear O'Reilly at their core are doing something that's been done forever by people obsessed with sound: composing music. They're excited to participate in times when barriers are falling. They're determined to do all they do freely and let a structure grow from that, not vice versa. They're also glad you are here...
