Bio

For PHS founding member, producer, and recording artist, Courtney “Valentine” Brown (a.k.a. Nucleus Vine) music is like oxygen. He channels his passion for life into his art, and his art, in return, fuels him. Characterized by heavy, lilting bass lines, dynamic compositions, and distinctive, catchy hooks, G-Vine’s music is not something you listen to- it’s something you feel.

For years Nucleus Vine has been cultivating his own signature sound, and has recently begun his foray into the mainstream with the production of several tracks on Canadian hip-hop artist Choclair’s upcoming album. Most notably, the first single “Weekend”- a fresh, mellow track that has landed rotation on Toronto’s commercial radio stations- and the soon to be released “Put’n It Down”, a collaboration with Choclair and Grammy winning recording artist Murphy Lee.

Born in Hanover, Jamaica, Nucleus Vine’s unique sound is a product of the rich and vibrant musical tradition that saturates the island. He inherited his love of music from his mother, a member of the local church choir, who sang to him as a child. Ever the innovator, Nucleus Vine made his own guitar at the age of 8 and would later join his mother singing in church. At the age of 11 the Vine moved to Toronto where he fully immersed himself in music. Inspired by artists that range from Marvin Gaye to Peter Tosh to David Bowie, Nucleus Vine began writing lyrics and developing his musical gifts in a way that defied convention and rejected boundaries.

Freedom of expression is the Nucleus' first and only rule. And abiding by this rule has allowed him to evolve into a sincere, soulful singer, visionary producer, and captivating performer.
