"Power pop Review"

The first band that caught my attention, 'Nushu' are reminiscent of the Go Gos, Veruca Salt and an early, looser, Bangles. One song called 'Spill' has the manic energy of the Ramones crossed with the Go Gos. Another, 'Pop Sound' is almost a Radio Jingle for the genre we love. If I was DJ somewhere on the airwaves, I'd certainly use it. This band made IPO festival organizer David Bash's top 100 albums of 2007 and was actually number 11 on that list! The band has released one CD called 'Nevermind Lullaby' and you can hear 4 of the bands tracks on their MySpace site.

"Soitu.es (spain)"

...the vocals recover the essence of the feminine American bands of power pop. - Soitu.es (spain)

"Power Pop Station (Brazil)"

...'Spill' opens the album in high-voltage, with punk energy, gentle vocals and melodies, followed by 'So Glad You Dig Me' and 'Need To Be' - and the record starts not to hide the influences of The Go Go' s, Bangles even indie muse Tanya Donelly and Belly. - Power Pop Station (Brazil)

"CREEM Magazine"

Review of our album January 2008 by

Nushu - Nevermind Lullabye (self released) :: Primo pop princess Lisa Mychols is back with Hillary Burton in tow and they've both come up with an infectious new album that's easily as dynamically bubbly as Lisa's earlier work--in fact, they sound just like the early Who!

Bio

Lisa Mychols and longtime friend Hillary Burton formed NUSHU in 2006 after co-writing a number of songs together in late 2005 that led to a decision to go into the studio to see what would transpire. As both Hillary and Lisa play a number of instruments, the two of them played all the instruments and did all the vocal work on the record with the help of their co-producer/engineer, Steve Refling (Cockeyed Ghost, the Negro Problem, Natalie Merchant, Little Steven), stepping in to play those super-cool parts as only he can.

The recording sessions for NUSHU's debut album, Nevermind Lullabye, were completed in early 2007. Next came the final mixing, mastering and graphic design work leading up to the release in July 2007.

Even before the release of Nevermind Lullabye a number of the songs found their way to the airways as far West as Hawaii thanks to Michael McCartney with The Time Machine radio program which airs throughout the islands, to as far East as Florida thanks to Adam Waltemire at Pop Garden Radio. Once released, songs from the debut album found their way onto airwaves throught the US and Europe, including the world famous KROQ (Los Angeles).

Nushu's first live show took place in August 2006 at the International Pop Overthrow festival in Los Angeles and included Tom Richards and Ricky Tubb from The Waking Hours.
