"NuSkool - Country Grammer meets Street Ministry"

“The only way to describe NuSkool is country grammar meets street ministry. Their debut CD ‘Something Nu’ is a creative explosion of heat and lyrical stamina!”

The dramatic presentation of "Right Thur" antics, which has high-powered music executives and fans alike screaming for more Country Grammar, has been relatively undetectable in the landscaping of Holy Hip Hop. However, over the last 360 days the Midwest has boldly proclaimed its presence through the delivery of artist like Cross Movement’s star child FLAME. The second strong tower and first group to emerge from this previously unclaimed territory is certainly NuSkool. With their debut, 'Something Nu', Charles N.U.B. Hudson and Travis Anderson capture the energy of the Midwest, much like their counterpart The St.Lunitics deciphered for mainstream. Their delivery of impressive lyricism on tracks like “Your Love”, “BodyRockin” and the Anderson produced “So Simple” establishes NuSkool as a recognizable force within a genre that still struggles to garner respectable recognition. One of the debut albums most poignant moments comes from the electric delivery style of frontrunner Charles aka N.U.B. Hudson. Hudson’s flawless ability to master an individually charged presentation is shockingly refreshing. If ‘Something Nu’ is the freshman presentation from the group NuSkool, I dare to ponder on what’s to come. - XII Magazine

Bio

Not the typical testimony of hood dreams and Cadillac white walls glossed by spinners. No baby mama blues or ego trips – just pure unadulterated ministry with phenomenal instruction to a dying world that Jesus communes with everyday people for the sake of the Kingdom. NuSkool, the most dynamic representation from the Midwest to date, brings an elevation to the genre of Holy hip-hop, much like hip-hop pioneers OutKast accomplished for mainstream, through their creative and highly focused debut LP on the Not Mine Music imprint, called “Something Nu”. Artists, producers and Word based lyricists Charles Hudson and Travis Anderson present a form of the Gospel that pierces the heart of the streets. It’s fire, it’s eclectic, it’s creative lyricism and straight from the Word of God!

Committing early on to pursue the heart of God, without compromise, NuSkool developed the slogan “It’s all about the Message!” “Our music is for Christians and unbelievers alike, we don’t discriminate. “Yes, we know the streets”, states NuSkool lyricist Charles Hudson aka N.U.B. (Never Underestimate Buck). But our past has become a tool for our ministry because we can relate to the struggle. Our past allows us to meet the people on common ground, much like Jesus did. Sometimes we forget that it’s about a generation that yearns to experience the power and love of God – they just don’t know how to connect. NuSkool presents that bridge through our music.”

NuSkool, which was established in 1997 on the campus of Emporia State University, is generating a significant buzz in both Midwest and Southern markets. The first single from the ‘Something Nu’ LP is the country mix BodyRockin, produced by lead man Travis Anderson. The single is a bangin’ lyrical dedication to the Church. Other singles include the soulful street anthem Your Love, which includes the incredible vocals of Texan Shawn Graves and the freshly mixed single So Simple.

Stage performances for NuSkool have captured audiences on various platforms. The group, who has performed for University’s and Churches across the Midwest and South, states that every show is different with a common thread of expectation – expectation straight from the Father. “Give us a title and we’ll give you the Word. Put us in a category and we’ll give you more Word. Tell us that we can’t go out into the streets and guess what; it’s straight back to the Word. We love ministry, we love hip-hop and we love God’s people.”
