Bio

Nuuro, a.k.a Alex Ghersi, was born in Caracas, Venezuela, seventeen years ago. Growing up in the beautiful chaos of a battered
Latin-American city, he sought refuge behind his computer. At age 15 he started experimenting designing and making music
with it, and before he could even know it he was part of a scene which wasn’t even ready to let him play live in its venues
without a fake I.D.
While generating buzz locally, something even more unexpected happened: Mexican independent labels Poni Republic and
Soundsister Records approached him to press a limited batch of 500 copies of his first debut LP: All Clear (2006).. From that
moment on, Nuuro’s blend of electro-pop/dance music, after being published through Darla and Gozadera Records, found a
wider reach, receiving favorable reviews from respected bloggers and Latin artists all over the world:
“An amazingly mature debut of bedroom electronic pop from this future Khonnor touring partner”, claimed the guys at
Textura.
(This album made me ask myself), “if I was ten years younger would I have a desperate crush on this guy?’ the answer being
most definitely”, said Renae Mason, from Cyclic Defrost.
“I try not to toss out ‘prodigy’ or ‘genius’ before I have a chance to really know and understand the artist and their process,
but there is too much talent here to not seriously consider Nuuro a master of the craft (...) I have to give this album a standing
ovation”, posted on Imageyenation.com
On a recent interview for the Argentinean version of Rolling Stone magazine (October issue), Rubén Albarrán, lead singer of
Beck-tourmate-holier-than-thou-authority-in-latin-indie-music Café Tacvba, when asked to mention a record he had
recently liked, had this to say for Nuuro’s All Clear: “I like this young Venezuelan musician’s album, All Clear. It’s fresh. Something
really new.”
Other reviews have been published from countries such as the United States, England, Germany, France, Sweden, Australia,
Japan, Mexico and Venezuela (see full reviews on page 2).
Among other cool facts, he’s currently being torrented at Oink, was linked once by Fluokids, gets steady airplay on Soma.FM
with his track Waiting and the Russian-music-piracy mafia illegally sells his mp3 for .50 cents a piece.
Nuuro recently moved to New York City, where he is currently pursuing a Recorded Music major at NYU, while he finishes his
upcoming releases: Hello, this is my E.P, and a yet-unnamed full length C.D, to be released late this year.
