Dian Nuwani Sentino fell in love with music at an early age. Most Saturday mornings, she would wake up to the sounds of a host of different genres including Classic Soul, R&B, Reggae or Gospel records blasting from her dad’s stereo system. At 6, she memorized the lyrics to her favorite Christmas song, the first of many songs she would come to perform at local churches and family functions. She wrote her first song at 8 years old but didn’t begin writing seriously until high school. Nuwani considers herself an artist, not just a musician, and enjoys the entire creative process from developing an idea for a song to performing on stage.

A turning point in the development of her musical identity was being introduced to Jazz/American Standards while studying music at Five Towns College. Although she enjoys performing Gospel, R&B, Soul and other styles of music, Nuwani‘s heart belongs to Jazz. It, as well as Soul music, is the core of her trademark sound. While in college, Nuwani performed with a local jazz group in Cold Spring Harbor, NY as well as with ensembles at numerous showcases at Five Towns College. She was a featured performer several times in the College’s Great American Songbook series.

Nuwani, also a writer and poet, has a deep appreciation of the arts and would like to eventually branch off into acting and writing (plays, screenplays, novels and poetry). One of her dreams is to perform on Broadway.

Nuwani is currently working on her debut album.
