Feeling a bit camera shy

In a music industry where artists seem to come and go every fifteen minutes and talent is not at the forefront, there are very few artists that have the ability to stand the test of time...

Nyerere is here to prove that myth wrong. Bringing a mix of gospel-esque soul, pop, and R&B into a modern sound, Nyerere has exactly the chops to make a mark in today’s music industry.

Since the age of 6, Nyerere, a Milwaukee native, has sang in his church choir and performed in a plethora of talent showcases around the Midwest and the South; and now it's time for the whole world to listen.

Although he is only 21-years-old, Nyerere has the vocal maturity, range and delivery that outshines many of today’s artists. When he belts out a note, you can’t help but to stop, look and listen. He let’s it be known that he is here.

In September of 2006, Nyerere auditioned for the hit BET show 106th & Park’s Wild Out Wed. The judges were blown away not only by Nyerere’s soulful voice, but his song writing skills as well, as they listened to Nyerere perform his single “All I Need,” the judges stated “that’s a hit.” The judges were so impressed with Nyerere’s performance that they invited him back to perform live on the show in early 2007 and to also perform at the first annual Blaze The Stage talent showcase.

In January of 2007, Nyerere was chosen as one of the winners of MTV’s Making The Band 4 VIP pass contest, which allowed Nyerere to gain VIP status to audition for the popular TV show.

Nyerere’s music has also been catching the ears of many Dj’s back in his home town. Nyerere’s single “All I Need” has been played on Milwaukee’s number 1 hip hop and r&b radio station, v100, just about every weekend since it’s debut in October of 2006.

His musical influences include Chaka Khan, Carl Thomas, Donny Hathaway, Floetry, Brandy, Freddie Jackson, Toni Braxton and Tonex. With all of these influences rolled into one, rest assured that Nyerere is bringing music that is destined to be a classic.
