Nyland The ODS

Nyland R. Coughlin Jr. also known as, “Nyland The ODS” was born in El Cajon, California on August 28th of 1979. He is the first of two sons of Linda K. Coughlin & Nyland R. Coughlin Sr. He is of Hungarian and Irish descent. Moving to Ohio as a child, Nyland was a big fan of Hip-Hop music and has always dreamt about being in the spotlight. After repeating the 11th grade twice due to alcoholism and chronic drug use, Coughlin dropped out of High School at the age of 17. He then went on to obtain his G.E.D. As he struggles through the stresses of recording his debut solo album, “The Living Tabloid”, he is at the same time working on his bachelor’s degree in business administration, ultimately heading for an MBA. He also has two children adding to his list of accomplishments.

Nyland’s popularity first began to surface when he co-founded the underground rap act, “Real Industry Assassins” [R.I.A.]. They went on to record tracks with artists such as Potluck, Tech n9ne, Waylon Reavis, and Bizzy Bone. The R.I.A. were initially signed to Detrimental Inc. in 2006 backed by Roy Rose and Scott Claussen. The R.I.A. were dropped by the label due to yet another Nyland incarceration. The R.I.A. split up and all mc’s went in different directions, but Nyland stayed true to his love for music. Nyland’s career has progressed rapidly first from being signed onto, “Highland Music Group” [H.M.G.] in late 2008 where he partially worked on his debut solo album called, “The Living Tabloid.” He was also was recognized by Psychopathic Records and having his hit single, “See You All In Hell,” on DJ Clay’s “Let ‘Em Bleed: The Mixtape Vol. 4”

After having served a 14 month prison sentence for burglary in 2008-2009 Nyland’s contract with H.M.G. had expired and was let go. Regardless of Nyland’s proven ability to go to prison for his own anti society beliefs, his dedication to music is evident through hard work and a nothing else matters attitude. In interviews Nyland has previously said, “Music has cost me everything, but it will let me stop at nothing” & “Music is all I have, I will live with it and I will die with it.” After years of hard work on April of 2011, Nyland was signed onto, “Viper Records” home of Immortal Technique, Diabolic, and AKIR. He currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio where he is in the studio with Steve “Skinny” Felton and Tommy Church recording his debut solo album, “The Living Tabloid,” set to be released by Viper Records.
