In a short time, Nyota Ndogo has released three (3) albums: Chereko (2000), Natoka Mbali Na Wewe (2003) and Mpenzi (2006); as well as featuring on three (3) international compilations: World 2003, The Rough Guide to Kenya and Off the Beaten Track.
Her impressive songwriting and vocal skills have earned Nyota Ndogo two (2) Kisima Music Awards in Kenya as Best Taarab Artist (2003) and Best Female Artist (2005).

Mwanaisha grew up on the coastal region of Kenya - where the growth of Swahili culture bred a unique style of music called taarab. As a genre, taarab music combines elements of African percussion with Arabic rhythms.
She was working as a house girl when her melodic voice and prolific song writing skills were first brought to the attention of Mombasa-based UK producer Andrew Madebe Burchell of Jikoni Studio.
Taking the name Nyota Ndogo (Kiswahili for Little Star) she has been collecting fans of her eclectic East African sound for over 7 years now. Nyotas vocals are sweet and compelling; while her music has a unique, soulful-yet-funky backing beat, mixed with the versatile style of Taarab.
