Bio

Nyquill was born "Travis Dion Brown" on June 5th 1979. He was born in St. Louis Missouri at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond Heights. He spent the first half of his life living in a neighborhood named "Elmwood" in Mid-North County. He attended the Ritenour School District and was a three sport athlete in highschool plus a public speaking champion and drama student. His junior year he transferred to Webster Groves and began to pursue making money in music. While attending Webster for his final two years he continued to play sports while woking a part time job. On his weekend off he would promote and sell merchandise for local punk and hardcore bands. Pretty soon he started looking for his own band to front. He was unsure of his vocal abilities but knew he would go after metal because of the intense dark lyrics that were displayed. They were similar to his own in poems he would write in class and to himself. He met with a friend who had a group started and looking for a singer. He auditioned and got it. The first song he wrote was called "Waiting" which he wrote to his girlfriend at the time who was a model leaving for Chicago. He spoke of her foolish dreams with words like...."Living in society little girl / can’t be a model in this fashion world/ no self-esteem not confident / and your not worth a penny not a god damn cent...but i’m waiting. Then after small success leading to drugs, fights, and failed promises in the crew the band took an hiatus. Knowing he wanted to do hip-hop since day one but wanting to feel a smoother side of music he joined a punk-ska- funk band called Mr. Spliff and the Irie I’s. He provided back up vocals , and solo rap verses to compliment the laid back sound. Little dedication from the other members pushed him away and he finally knew what he had to do.... Say fuck bands and just do his hip-hop! He formed a small group called A.L.F.A. with 2 other emcees and a D.J. They dropped two single cd’s and a small ep on the streets. After countless shows one of the members left while Nyquill and the others joined up with some friends from other groups. That group later became known as "Royal Illete" and it is currently the group Nyquill is working with. He has an ill live show and has been told that he has the full package to be a star!! -Roger Bacon
