Oak Street Groove

 Bolingbrook, Illinois, USA
BandJazzR&B

Oak Street Groove performs Jazz Standards, puts the unique jazz twist on the Old School R&B/Soul/Funk tunes from the 70’s through today as well as their own original tunes.

It’s like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee meet Frankie Beverly, Smokey Robinson and Diana Krall! They bring back all the good feelings you had back in the day, and for the young discerning crowd it is an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what folks experienced when “real” music was being made!

Biography

While Oak Street Groove founders and cousins keyboardist Emanuel “Manny” Rozelle and guitarist Tony Morrison have played off and on since the seventies, through a series of fortunate events they met vocalists Rodney Fair and Cheytonn McDonald who shared the same passion for performing. They brought on another cousin, bassist Gil Oliva and drummer/percussionist Jeff Dunn to round out the team.

They knew there was a huge market for the type of music they loved: the jazz standards, like Sinatra and Nat King Cole, R&B and Motown tunes from 70's and the neo-soul tunes from Kem and Jill Scott. It proved to be true and as soon as people found out they were performing, it wasn’t long before they began selling out shows.

Their passion is to perform their music and to be a life-giving force in the marketplace, leaving audiences with excitement and encouragement.
