Oatmeal

Oatmeal

BandRockAlternative

Once described as “indie Pop with a twist of the bizarre” the music of Oatmeal is energetic and catchy, rich in vocal harmonies punctuated with searing guitar work.

Biography

A band whose influences are as varied as their many sounds. At the core of the band is a writing partnership between Robert Kolosowski, and Mark Mak, which is enriched by Simon Wall’s energetic percussion and vocal harmonies. Simon has also co-written a number of songs with the band. Whilst the band takes it’s music seriously, they also take every opportunity to have a laugh. Their brand of Post-Punk Pop is influenced by the likes of XTC, Police, Joy Division, Snakefinger, Radiohead, Devo, Mozart and Weather Report.

Lyrics

My Friend

Written By: Mak/Kolosowski

She was my friend and her Love came to a painful end And I was there I was a Shoulder to soak up the tears

Say you were my friend you were the only one who said I’m not the only one who fell this low
and couldn’t get up on my own

Say you were my friend you were the only one who said I never needed to be needed by the
One who has preceded you

In agony she tried to Understand what made no sense And I was there to tell her All the things she needs to hear like It wasn’t her, it wasn’t her You’re worth much more than you think you are It wasn’t her, it wasn’t her She’d call me up to comfort her ...

Say you were my friend you were the only one who said I’m not the only one who fell this low
and couldn’t get up on my own

Say you were my friend you were the only one who said I never needed to be needed by the
One who has preceded you

She was my friend and her Love came to a painful end And I was there I was a Shoulder to soak up the tears And in time she came to Understand and head up high she Turned her back was on her way and Forgot to say, forgot to say ..

Say you were my friend you were the only one who said I’m not the only one who fell this low
and couldn’t get up on my own

Say you were my friend you were the only one who said I never needed to be needed by the
One who has preceded you

Say you were my friend
Say you were my friend (you were my friend)
Say you were my friend
Say you were my friend
