Oba William King - The Poetic Story Teller

Oba William King is The Poetic Storyteller, a phenomenal performer and showman. He brings stories, poetry, and cultural songs to life through his interactive, dynamic presentations. Oba has received an Illinois Arts Council Artists Fellowship designated as Traditional Folk Artist. Oba was honored by Gwendolyn Brooks award for his original poetry and workshop for children. He received a Hidden Jewel of The Neighborhood award. Oba was featured on Television WTTW 11 Artbeat Chicago ’s “King of the Classroom.” He helps students develop positive self-image and articulation, conflict resolution, team-building, and agile thinking skills. Oba offers assembly-style performances, hands on workshops, engaging lectures and short term residencies. Oba is an Expert, and Master in the field of interweaving stories and poetry with rhythm and song to create entertaining, educational events for all audiences, ages, cultures, and communities. Each event can be theme specific, regarding teen, youth, family issues.
