Bio

THE ARTIST OBITA The word OBITA means to persuade. It is from the Luo tribe of East Africa. Aptly named he is the most persuasive performer you will ever see. His booming voice and aggressive presence has resulted in him upstaging a few main acts in his career. He mesmerizes an English audience in 2009 while doing a side show as a build up to the 46664 Mandela Charity Concert in London. His acolytes speak on his behalf. Amazingly the award winner has accomplished as an independent artist what most signed artists in his region aspired to. The South African star has rocked them all from intimate corporate bow tie events TO 35000 strong crowds right up to national television broadcasts such as Miss South Africa. His secret to success is simple – the people must move. He has been described as a hybrid between Exibit and T PAIN. He thoroughly enjoys the dirty South sound but adds a certain bang to it. His music generates energy. His forceful onstage presence and booming voice coupled with bouncy party beats, an additional guitarist, DJ and vocalist make for the ultimate party atmosphere and a strong commercial appeal which has led to his international acclaim. His universally accessible music has resulted in his inclusion to some of the most unlikely shows for a rapper.
REVIEWS and QOUTES
THE DJ KRUSH LIVE SHOW , CLUB CARFAX, edited by ion of zion :
Next up was Obita, who, I must confess, I had never seen live before. The big black rapper stepped onto the stage in front of a fairly empty floor, but by the time he was halfway through his first song, the crowd had doubled in size. His energy was undeniable, and the group worked together like pieces of a well oiled engine. The gig even included a fresh faced white boy who absolutely ROCKED the show with his electric guitar solos. What a relief to witness some unpretentious fresh rap talent, especially after MaxNormal.TV disappointed me so thoroughly the week before.

FHM Magazine March 2007
The illest Rhymes FHM has heard in years. We’re rocking this CD so much we’re going to wear a hole in it.
Oppikoppi Review By Brendon Bosworth (music Journalist)
Obita’s Combustive stage Presence and impeccably-delivered verses just make you want to bounce. And the 700 strong crowd is doing exactly that as he belts out a litany of rhymes.
Hype Magazine October 2006:
Once you’ve experienced Obita perform Live, it’s hard to accept anything less from any other MC. The fact that his lyrics and flow matchup is the reason why we, here at Hype, think that he’s someone to pay close attention to. He means business and is not to be taken lightly-ever.
